SFM keeps rendering corrupted videos. Help! [SOLVED]
When ever I render a video, whether it be 720 or 1080p it keeps becoming corrupted and unplayable, no matter how long or short the video is. I don't know what is wrong, I have rendered the video over 5 times with different settings :(

Make sure your not switching in and out of windows while its rendering, this normally results in blue and red frames, and sometimes audio distortion... Rendering the video in an image sequence in PNG format is the best way to go personally for me, it gives me all the frames without a huge sized video, and without the unpredictability of damage to the video file, such as what happend with you. There are lots of programs out there to combine the frames and the audio files into your video, I use Adobe After Effects.

No other windows or programs are running. But I will try the image sequence render, but does it take longer to render that way?

It shouldn't take longer to render (I would think it would take less time, but I'm not sure). One thing I recommended to another person having rendering issues is to update your graphics drivers if you haven't already. I had that issue a while back so it might be worth looking into.

In theory it should and would make sense for it to take the same amount of time to render a frame for image sequence and video file, I havent really checked myself.

Also, can you please tell me what media player you are using, and what the given error is?
Pepto Feb 6, 2013 @ 9:44pm
Sony Vegas Pro 10 and Windows Media Player also show the error. Windows Media Player tries to play the video and the video is shown as a tiled like video in reverse and trippy colors, then it crashes. It just started today.

I am rendering it as a Image sequence. Hopefully Sony Vegas can turn that into a video format

So these trippy colours are red and blue flashing with messed up audio correct?
Pepto Feb 6, 2013 @ 9:47pm
its red, blue, green, and pink (mostly green) and the audio is messed up

As Roxy said before, its probably best if you try and update your graphics drivers.

I have the latest drivers, when it came out on Jan 5th

I dont think I would currently know the solution, sorry.

Its alright, rendering as a image sequence works perfectly :)

Are they AMD? Their system of updating is a little weird. Here's their support site.

If the problem persists, I would as a last resort reinstall SFM. Just make sure you back up your files first.
Also another thing to try is taking an old video you made that worked and re-render it and see if you have the same problem. If you don't, then you know something's gone wack in this particular video and not in SFM itself.

Glad to hear that the img sequence rendered fine! :D Though if I were you, I would still try to figure out what went wrong so that you can avoid it in the future.

well this sucks, older projects render perfectly.... its just this specific one. Also, I use Nvidia
