We could really use a Dungeon master now. Don't worry, If you want to join the game at later chapters/campaigns another DM can level you up and give you some standard items or X amount of golds!

Check the MO forum and just post a little application for people to see if you want to be a DM. We can take a vote there then....I've been testing the campaign with a friend and there are definetly areas which a DM could improve upon. Too much running and not enough surprises!
Anyways, that guide has a section where it gives examples of increasing complex character backgrounds and is a good read overall.
Personally what I do to start making a character is to think of a cool movie or TV personality, slap a class on them that can mesh with their personality and then take the character in it's own direction.
For Sarlith, who is Lawful evil I started with the main character from "Bad Leuitenant" with Nicholas Cage. Applied that to a rogue, chose a gnome as the race and came up with a backstory involving a power struggle with gnome nobles, ending with my character being outcast and set on the adventuring life.
I thought I'd share incase anything I said might help people make their own characters, or at least give you a look at mine. Looking foreward to playing with you gents.
Thats the basic character info, I'm not sure if we're going to be doing any RP or not, but I thought I'd share a few things I learned about character creation from people in tabpletop and elsewhere.

I will go mage if we don't have any but I will go for combat buffs due to friendly fire and full PvP damage.
I will go duel wielding battle axes or 1h + shield on my fighter
