How to Successfully Spycrab
Due to the recent events I have seen on the Neonheight servers, I feel it’s necessary for someone to explain what exactly Spycrabing is. Long ago, in the far away year 2007, on October 10, Gabe Newell and his minions released the addictive game of Team Fortress 2 for Xbox and Windows. Everything was fine in the pay to play era, besides the fact of server bugs, running out of money, and scammers. Not like any of that has changed, but with the new era of F2Ps things like money and scamming have become much more of a huge problem over the past (enter obscure time in here I’m too lazy to find out when TF2 started having more problems in the community). One of the biggest problems I’ve personally experienced or have seen is spycrabing.

Now, if you are an experienced trader and or a TF2 Player (That means you Mr/Mrs Unusual Hat c: ) then you most likely know what I am going to say for the rest of this. If your new to spycrabbing, TF2, or trading in general, you might want to take the time to read this extremely long and over-worded instruction/history of TF2 and spycrabing.
|So, what is spycrabing exactly and how do I spycrab?|
Well, there are two types of spycrabbing. One is a harmless thing, and the other one can be anything from amazing to dreadful.

First Kind:
The first kind of spycrabbing is a simple thing most players love to do or just do from time to time (or like me once a day). To spycrab like this, all you have to do is go as spy, and equip your disguise kit, and then look up at the sky while crouching. Simply walk anywhere and you’ll look adorable, but also will not be spared by players that hate spycrabs or people that don’t care that you’re friendly.

Second Kind:
The second type of spycrabbing is where you actually get either get in trouble or be scammed, so be careful. To spycrab like this, you must go as spy and find another player that will go as spy to battle you (preferably on the same team in a nice secluded area so you’re not interrupted by the enemy team). After you have found an opponent, and preferably gone to a nice quiet place on the map, you have to stay in one designated spot when you two battle. That means no moving around, jumping, or 360s or anything like that. Basically don’t touch your mouse until your done spycrabing (idea in a nutshell). Once you and your opponent are ready to battle, you can chat with the other person what items you want to put up for wager. Most likely you will decide what items you want to wager before you even find an area to spycrab battle.

WARNING:
Do not trade any items before you spycrab!!! Unless there is a middle man to hold on to the winnings of the spycrab, do not pay your opponent anything until after if they win the spycrab battle. You should always be recording and or have a middle man recording the spycrab to make sure nobody gets scammed of their items.

How do I spycrab now?|
When you and your opponent are ready to do the spycrab battle, and the items you two bet are confirmed, and preferably you have a middle man and or are recording, you may procede to start taunt battling.
How to battle:
1- Stand in front of your opponent, there is no leaving the server now, leaving the area, jumping, etc
2- Pull out your spies disguise kit and wait to start
3- Once it has been announced by either the opponent, you, or the middle man, you will taunt 1 taunt at a time hitting the default taunt key (Aka no special taunts, ie. Director’s Vision). However some people like to keep taunting until someone gets what is known as a spycrab. A spycrab taunt is defined as when a taunting spy crouches in his taunt like a crab and does a little shimmy.
4- Once a player has gotten the spycrab taunt for x amount of times (Usually its best of 3), they lose. Meaning the person who taunts that special spycrab taunt 3 times (or whatever times you two agreed on) before their opponent does, they lose and the other player gets the items the losing opponent put up for wager.

Tips and Warnings:
1) Never spycrab in a hurry; if a player looks like they want to spycrab in a hurry, they might be trying to scam you or another player
2) Always price check your items when you wager them. If someone offers an item up for grab vs an item they want from you, make sure one item isn’t worth more than the other. Ie don’t bet a scrap and have the other person bet a hat and vice versa
3) Always either be recording, have a middle man, and make sure to get the other players steam ID before spycrabing. If any potential scamming occurs, the player leaves, etc., at least you have proof of who they are and that they either scammed you, didn’t pay you your items, etc
4) For anything over a key in price , I would defiantly be recording and or (preferably both) have a trustworthy middle man hold onto the items or watch over the event, like a server moderator or admin (Maybe even the owner)
5) Be careful though as not all server staff are honest so make sure you know the mod, admin, or owner (or whoever) good enough before you entrust them with your items to hold onto

Final Thoughts:
-Remember that spycrabing is an addictive gambling game! If you lose, be a fair sport and give up the items you lost. Its considered scamming and can be server bannable if you lie or refuse what you agreed you would give if you lost.
-Make sure if you do actually spycrab for items that both you and your opponent know all the details of what to do for the game, how many taunts you want to go to, and the items given up for grabs
-Always! Always price check any items you’re not sure about so opponents don’t wager items worth less than the one you put up
-Always be careful of who you spycrab against! It’s a rough world out there on the internet; not everyone is honest or fair as they might say they are!

-And after 9 long years in development, hopefully it was worth the wait! Please let me know what you think! Thanks, and have fun!
