Need Authentication code to log into Steam App on phone for Authentication code
Can someone help me? My phone restarted on me, then the restart logged me out of Steam on my phone's Mobile app, the same mobile app that has my Steam Guard Authentication code that I need to log in to anything steam related.

Here's the kicker, I can't log in until I get the phone app the code that is on the phone app that I can't log back into. I have the password, I have the user name, I have proof that I'm the user, BUT I CAN'T PROVIDE A CODE!

Before all this happened, I was trying to find the Recovery Code that it gave me because the phone went into energy saving and shut off the screen, but I couldn't get it back. Then I looked everywhere and I've had to relog into the forums and I find out that I need the app's code from here on out. So that means I'm screwd if I get logged out.

But wait, there's more, now at this point the app stops giving me any codes be it the one time use one or the Backup Recovery code which I've been trying to find. Then all of a sudden the app crashed, and that in turn caused my phone to reboot, mind you it could be the phone was updating the OS, but when it rebooted I was logged out of Steam on the phone and now when I try to get it to log in. I am asked for a code on top of the password and the username, and since I can't give it since I need to log in to get it in the first place.

So I'm locked out and I can't get the Recovery code or disable steam Guard without either the code for ether one time or recovery. And I can't turn off my PC for fear that I will be logged out and won't be able to log back in even for my support tickets.

And since I'm not receiving e-mails or even SMS messages on my phone for the code, and I can't find a way to force the system to do it, I'm kind of wondering if someone can freaking help me with this. Because right now I can't risk shutting down my PC or logging out via the web page. Please help, SOMEONE! ANYONE!

I think I have the same issue
Due to unrelated issues, had to reset my phone to factory defaults.
Attempt to log into steam on clean phone.
Able to provide username and password, prompted for authenticator code. Not given any opportunity to enter a recovery code so unable to proceed

I have the exact same problem. Any advice? Tried contacting steam support but it's been a week since I posted my ticket and still no response from anyone....

The recovery key can be used to remove the authenticator (I don't remember exactly where this is, but I found it via help.steampowered.com). Once you've done that you can log in on the mobile app and re-add it as an authenticator if you wish.

1) WRITE DOWN THE RECOVERY CODE!!!!

2) Go to Steam-Account scroll to the bottom "Manage SteamGaurd ". Click "GET BACKUP CODES"

@satoru I had a photo of my recovery code and when i entered it steam kept saying it was a incorrect code. The only way i got the authentication back into email was by sending steam support a email asking them to do so. lucky they replied within 2 days and now its working with my email.

LOL blame your phone for all of your problems much? Sounds like you factory reset, or installed a major OS update, and blamed it all on that pesky, autonomous phone of yours..

This is what will always happen when you factory reset your phone. The recovery code will work, but not for logging in. It is a failsafe, and you have to go to your steam security settings, and find the option to remove 2FA/mobile authentication, and then it will ask you for the 6 digit code.

This is a design flaw. Steam pushed an update. After the update you need to log in again but you can't log in again because you need the authenticator code to log into the authenticator.

Same problem here on my iphone, what a design flaw! I had to choose the option that I don't have access to authenticator codes and they sent me a text message with a code to enter. Signed in ok now.
