Confused in First Game
I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing. I don't know what quests I have, or where I'm supposed to be going. I saw someone mention a walkthrough, but I haven't been able to find one myself. Help?

There is a wonderful walkthrough by GW Fan the Softcore Brony! He goes in depth on where to go, who to speak to, what to have in your party, everything you need to know except personal skill. That's on you. He is on youtube and just search the name. He will help you! There are others of course, but he has the best possible guide and the one I used personally!

I was hoping for a text guide, cause I don't always have access to sound.

Fraid not! It would be nice for a text guide, but sadly enough that I know, there is no text based guide. I can't speak for you, but it is pretty linear for the most part. If you ever played an RPG it's straightforward. Buying the best possible armor and grinding it out if you care enough. I myself managed to figure out a majority of the game without use of a guide. The only really hard part are the sidequests and how to activate them. I can help. It's been ages since I played the game, but for the most part as long as you tell the basic area that you are at, I can probably guide you through it strictly based on memory. I probably can't guide you through the absolute latest dungeon as I haven't gone that far myself. But if you are ever stuck in the main game, I can help out and the two bonus dungeons I have done. Just PM me.

I agree for the most part that a text based guide would be fantastic!

My main problem is I started the game a while ago, wandered aimlessly, and started some quests. I have no idea how long ago that was, and now I don't know who I talked to, what they wanted, or where I was supposed to go. A quest list would have been really nice. This sort of thing is why I could never get anywhere in the original Legend of Zelda game.

What I do is when I come back to a game after spending time away, I usually start over again to refresh. It makes me sound kind of dickish but it really is the best time. That way, I don't have to wander around liek an idiot trying to remember where I was. Even if I was far into the game, I hate myself afterwards, but sometimes if I can't remember anything, it helps jar my memory. I did it recently for a few of my games actually. I know of how to activate two bonus quests, and the game for me is realtively straightforward. I may know my way around RPG Maker games, but it helps. The game is realtively linear and you can spend a few moments outside Ponyville grinding to stand a chance *at least Level 5*

But if I spend a long time away, or even if I play another game and then come back to another I was playing, I spend a few moments before I play the game trying to remember, if it comes up blank, I start a new game. If I remember, then I keep going and hope further memories awaken.

No offense to Nurse Dashie, but this game isn't very memorable in the jarring memory department and it can be very hard to remember exactly what one did before time away. Nothing, outside of sidequest triggers is all that hard, and most of the path is easily explorable. So, unless you are having a derp moment, it's pretty straightforward.

I also use a bunch of guides over at gamefaqs for original games. I find it helps in my enjoyment of the game. Which brings us all the way back to the original arguement.

This..
Sorry, but i don't think that there is a written walkthrough for the game anywhere, but I can help you get back on the right track. Where are you at in the game?

Well, I found a crown in a cave somewhere and tried to fight Chrysalis, got my butt whooped royally. So now I'm wandering around to get some levels. I found the hooded pony who I apparently talked to before, they say I need explosives. I wandered into Fillydelphia, where I remember being before, not sure if there's anything to do there. I THINK I talked to Zecora last time I played, but I'm not sure. Also I have a muffin in my inventory for derpy?

Chrysalis is a luck based mission. She likes to Zap ponies into sweet death. You have to be a high level and hope that RNG is on your side. I have beaten this boss with all 4 ponies in my party alive, but bring in Cupcakes (I think that was the Phoenix Down of the game... it's been ages and a year)

Derpy needs 10 Muffins to activate a sidequest. It's not HER sidequest, she just allows it to exist!

And the hooded pony?
cooldragon1990 Dec 1, 2017 @ 3:38pm
It's been ages since I played the game. I am sure if I got there I would remember. Can you provide a little more info. Was this hooded pony found in a cave or in a random location. I think he gives you dynomite but that might be something else! Sorry I am not much help. I haven't played this game in three years!

After beating Chrysalis, you will get a herb, take that to shining armour and he'll ask if there is anypony that can make it into medicine. Go to Zecora's cave and she will make medicine. Take it to shining armour and cadance will wake up and give you the mystic key.. Using the Mystic Key will unlock those sealed doors you saw in the shrine of the elements. Inside one of the chests is TNT. Take the TNT to the hooded pony and he'll blow up the blockade to the south. Go back to your boat and ride to the south.. You're in the right spot when you see a town, which is Appleloosa.
Hope this helped!

What about all those caves with random obstacles like clouds?

You'll deal with those later in the game

I can't get Chrysalis' health below half. I don't know what you did to beat her at a low level like 5, but geez, I can hardly lay any hits on her.
