The stats of the Lo-fi Longwave
The Lo-fi Longwave is the ultimate goal of most of the people in this group. The hard hat is awarded to people who have made the "Player of the week", or by sending in a screenshot every month. The Lo-fi, which I will now refer to as the "fi", is a cosmetic item for all classes. It is a hard hat with the Kritzkast logo on it, with a broadcasting tower on top of it. But how much do you actually KNOW about it?
The first thing a lot of people dont seem to understand is the fact that the fi cannot be traded. At all. There is no way a Lo-fi longwave can change hands. At ALL. It cannot be traded OR gift wrapped. With that, It can be compared to the TF2VRH, the Spycrab, and the Japan Charity Bundle; each of these respective items cannot change hands either. So if somebody won't trade you their fi, it's not because they won't, but because they can't.
Every year, supposing there is not an extra-special event, 63 are given out. One for each week of the year, and others for the Screenshot contest. However, there seems to be a trend where every time the podcast count reaches a double zero, an unspecified amount are given out. This year, in 2016, the episode count will reach 400. 2016 will be the year of the Lo-fi longwave.
Let's look at Backpack examiner to discover how many of these things exist.
5,272 Lo-fi longwaves exist. That is 0.07% of all tf2 players. Could that be you?
There are more vintage fi's than unique.
There are less Lo-fi longwaves than:
Big Kills
Spycrabs
Voodoo Jujus
Buds
Cappers
Isn't that neat?:flowey:
Note: This is this first in my "Stats of" series of discussions, focused on bringing info about less-known-about hats to the minds of newer players. Starting with the Lo-fi seemed right.
EDIT: Looking at the comments, I see the problem of scammers. I had NO idea it was that bad.

Yo yo yo, you can also get a Lo-Fi from special contests (although they don't happen all that often).

Just to let you know, the screenshot competitions are dead for the time being.
