Eden Survivors
Oh boy. After playing this for a while and really wanting to like it—especially since I’m a fan of survivor-likes and often review visual novels with adult content—I just can’t give this a positive review. Unfortunately, there are only two positives I can mention about this game: it's free-to-play, and the developer who reached out to me was very nice. Beyond that, it’s tough to find anything redeeming.

Let’s start with the game’s opening. The first time you launch it, you’re immediately thrown into the story and after the brief visual novel segment, you’re dropped straight into your first survivor level—without any chance to access the settings menu beforehand. Not being able to tweak settings before starting is already a major issue in my books.

The second problem I noticed right away was the controller detection. If you have a controller plugged in, the game removes the mouse cursor during gameplay, making it impossible to level up unless you either use the controller or unplug it. This makes no sense and shouldn’t be a thing and I don`t have a single other game that functions like that.

Another immediate issue is the music. There’s just a single short song that loops endlessly, and it gets annoying fast—even within the first level. To make matters worse, the game's audio levels are completely unbalanced. At first, I thought there were no sound effects at all, but once I finally accessed the settings menu, I discovered that lowering the music to around 2% made some sound effects audible.

These problems are incredibly easy to notice right from the start, which makes me certain there are even more issues the longer you play. But honestly, even if there weren’t, I still wouldn’t see a reason to continue.

The gameplay is, simply put, the worst survivor-like I’ve played—and I’ve tried at least twenty different ones on Steam. It’s completely mindless and boring, and combined with the repetitive background music, it will drive you insane.

On top of that, the game is blatantly pay-to-win. As you progress, you'll need to open loot boxes to unlock better "heroes" and improve your fighter. But that’s not enough for the developers—they also added an energy system, limiting how much you can play unless you either wait in real time or pay extra. It’s pay-to-progress in the worst way.

Additionally, this is clearly a mobile game at its core, and it suffers from the usual UI and user experience issues that come with that. The little bit of story I saw didn’t give me much hope for anything groundbreaking either.

Honestly, the only potential reason someone might want to play this game is for the adult content. But even that is locked behind an excessive grind and pay-to-win mechanics. On top of that, the artwork is just average, making it hardly worth the effort.

Overall, this is a disappointing free-to-play adult game—exactly what I’d expect from something also available on Nutaku.

Edit:
After writing some more with the developer I still wouldn't recommend the game at this point in time, but they are so nice that if you don't mind the micro transaction nature of the game you could easily just give it a shot yourself and maybe you will have a different opinion.
