Abandoned Early Access title being sold like complete software

Valve/Steam should be investigated by authorities, they continue to allow this shams because they profit from it. PARTNERS IN CRIME!
BORG Mar 8, 2019 @ 2:53pm
Early Access needs to go away - forever. Valve has no intention of making this platform substantially better. I'm ready to leave Steam and Valve at any time if needed. Early Access is just a cash grab from both sides of the fence for Valve and bad businesses. Developers lose, customers lose and consumer standards hardly mean anything to Valve anymore. Even their board moderators are bias favouring of their own feelings in discussions over logic and common sense, disregarding the customer care and customer quality standards. Early Access needs to disappear forever. It's not helping developers, is profit gouging developers and cash grabbing from consumers with sub-par content.

Magnus - I concur.

I agree aswell that the positive EA reviews should not be released/connected to this particular group, as it might not be a good idea to relate successful EA titles with the ones being discussed here, specially due to the group's name and description. Perhaps doing so on a different group/curator would be the best idea.
Senoinya Aumeriyal'e Mar 18, 2018 @ 12:54am
But does the name imply that the group should only be about developers who abuse the system? The name implies a set of guidelines that should be followed. So far, it's exposed those who go against those guidelines. In what way, exactly, does the name suggest that those who fall in line with those guidelines should go unmentioned? Personally, I don't mind being recommended games that DO fall in line with the standards being presented here, as I'd actually like to support those developers to make the message even more clear.
Nemo, Forevermore Mar 18, 2018 @ 12:51am
Senoinya Aumeriyal'e - Agreed, but I would rather see an offshoot group tackle that and keep this group focused on EAGAbuse, as the name implies
Senoinya Aumeriyal'e Mar 18, 2018 @ 12:49am
I think listing good examples of early access titles is just as important as exposing the ones that do it horribly wrong. After all, the point of this group isn't to hate on early access itself as a concept, but to bring attention to those who abuse it.

Bringing to light those that don't abuse it is a good way of encouraging the kind of service we want from early access. It creates a clear image of what it is people want to see, which makes this group informative both for customers and developers.

If we're going to start listing games that do Early Access really well, then I'd like to mention both Rimworld and Crosscode. Both games are great examples of Early Access done right.
BlackSpawn Mar 18, 2018 @ 12:44am
Thanks for your post.
I was actually debating that right now.

Ive been debating for a while how to include a section or curations on Early Access titles that are doing it or have done it well.

But I may stay away from doing that.
There are too many ways in which that can go wrong.

I will probably delete that curation and create a thread to discuss it further.

Even though there is a lot of bullcrappery that goes on in the name of early access...some developers / publishers are worth supporting...but it is very hard to make that distinction...early access is such a minefield for the customer.....Sadly, honest developers and publishers suffer as a result.

Early Acces games should be banned, at least 70% of them are unfinished (and will never be finished.) or is on "early acces" since over 5years old. Steam (VALVE) should not allow that kind of scam.
BlackSpawn Nov 3, 2017 @ 3:04pm
And PachirisuGrrI33, a review for Children of Liberty has been up for quite some time. I did some additions. Cheers.

Ah, interesting, Terry. I had a link to a post stating that the steam profile listed was a "developer" account. The post has since been deleted. If that is the case, can you provide me with the link to the actual developer's profile?

Your account did have "Developer" level privileges on the game forum though, which is why it is listed on the curation.

Add this game to your curator, plz. Because, I think it's been abandon. Though I don't know how you'll properly categorize it. It's suppose to be a platformer set during the American Revolution.
VaporStrike Oct 2, 2017 @ 4:20pm
Excuse me, BlackSpawn? I believe you mistakenly have me listed as a dev for D.U.S.T. I was only a forum moderator, Peter was the developer.

BlackSpawn Jul 20, 2017 @ 12:06am
Currently looking into "Life of Rome," I may not post a curation up as it is not on sale on the Steam store and they seem to be providing active refunds to interested parties as per the Steam game forum.

It has a launch date of "2017." I will pay attention closely to see how / if it develops further. Seemingly a game at higher risk than average. Still at a pre-alpha stage per the developers.
I cant tell if they are having issues / early access hell or simply they started selling the pre-alpha way too early in course of planning / development of the title (proof of concept).

PUBG is fine in its current state. There are some issues with cheaters that the devs have failed to adequately address, but I'll be honest and say that I've never experienced a cheater while in game. The stablity issues are definitely a problem, but even I can run it reliably with my potato of a laptop. Optimization can only get better from here, PUBG is doing fine
SpecTRe_X Jun 23, 2017 @ 8:51am
One can't reliably go by how active a dev or dev team is as that's no indication of continued action and/or interaction. Shallow Space is a great example of that.
Senoinya Aumeriyal'e Jun 23, 2017 @ 2:26am
I wasn't saying it needed to be looked at, just pointing out that it's not 100% "playable" just yet, which is what could have been implied with Jonboy's comment. I myself don't look negatively upon it and feel it has a lot of potential.

Although, if updates ever cease or it ends up reaching full release and still has these issues, I'll definitely post about it here.
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 23, 2017 @ 2:03am
@Senoinya Aumeriyal'e Thesethings are to be expected in Early Access. They seem to be regular on updates too. I don't think we have any reason to look negatively upon PUBG, but maybe I am out of the loop on this title.
Senoinya Aumeriyal'e Jun 23, 2017 @ 2:00am
PUBG is playable, except for the lag literally everywhere even on well-built PCs, the crashes, and the occasional hit reg issues.

But they do seem to at least be trying to fix all of that.
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 23, 2017 @ 12:47am
DayZ is a 4-letter word, figuratively and literally. I almost bought that years ago. Thanks for the other recommendations though. I will check them out.
Jonboy Jun 23, 2017 @ 12:45am
My approach is to be selective. If I see enegagement from devs with the community, that is a big plus. I am quite impressed with PUBG. That is a game which is very playable and well supported in Alpha. Clear leadership and direction. Another one is Survive the Night, devs very down to earth. Day Z is still up its own arse, despite 4 years in Alpha and little to no progress.
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 22, 2017 @ 11:43pm
@Jonboy - I for one am not excited to imagine a world without the EA platform. There have been some very good titles to come out of EA that benefitted greatly from the wide variety of feedback available to devs during the EA process.

However, there has been no shortage of what I will just refer to as "EA Scumbaggery" ... and I more and more see the responses from communities of people who have been affected by their broken promises and complete abandonment. If people are being genuine, I think the downward spiral has begun. During every one of these events, people swear off EA for good. It's a shame these developers have such power to burn the bridges for the whole platform but, as an almost wise man once said: "no matter how much you polish a turd, a turd is still a turd."
Jonboy Jun 22, 2017 @ 3:13am
So is the tide turning against the EA model?
Deaf Jun 18, 2017 @ 3:09pm
@BlackSpawn I was disappointed with OKAM right from the get go, but people kept shunting me into believing it was awesome. I've met a lot of bad-developers with good intentions, but these guys just feel like they genuinely hate their playerbase.

@ArbitraryLines the adulation is welcomed but unnecessary. We are just everyday people too. People tired of the nonsense that happens on Steam under the guise of "Early Access" development. Welcome aboard and we will gladly take any help we can get to push for serious change in the current way Steam handles the Early Access program.
Deaf Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:25pm
@Mass Defect thank you so much. I'll compile as much information as I can over the course of tomorrow, I'm a little too burnt out from rekindling my anger for early access today. I love what you guys are doing here, if you ever need anything done here do not hesitate to use me as a resource/menial labor. You are doing awesome work here, thank you and please keep it up. The community needs you honestly
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:21pm
@ArbitraryLines - A link to any relevant information would be gretly appreciated. Just drop the links in this thread:

http://steamcommunity.com/groups/EarlyAccessGuidelines/discussions/0/2333276539594863062/

I am sick of this trend too. It happens much more often than it should in a legitimate storefront. That is why BlackSpawn created this group. I will pass on as much information on this title as possible and see if we can get a curation up soon.
Deaf Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:13pm
@Mass Defect I will do anything you folks want and more so long as this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doesn't happen anymore. I'm sick of seeing people buy the game and then realize too late that they made a HUGE mistake with their money.
Deaf Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:12pm
I'm very vehement in my loathing for this developer. He's been stopping and starting development with little to no warning, he's entirely changed the scope of the project from a military sim to a zombie survival game (which his partner was entirely oblivious to I might add - he didn't even tell his co-developer at the time that he was making an entirely different game). I can link you all the information you need. I beg that you guys don't dismiss this, he's been doing this forever and it's screwed over so many people. Read even part of the devblog comments, or reviews of the game itself and you'll see that this is clearly abuse of early-access.
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:10pm
@ArbitraryLines - My condolences on your purchase of OKAM.

You are correct. I was misreading the dates on the updates. What said January I thought said June. My mistake. I will dig in and hopefully we can get a curation of this title as soon as possible.

In the meantime, could you keep us up to date with any announcements or updates post-curation?
Deaf Jun 15, 2017 @ 5:07pm
@Mass Defect yeah that's his 'weekly' updates which went cold five months ago. He just cold turkey stopped. Please look into it, I'm dead serious that this is the worst developer I've encountered yet on Steam: and I bought Of Kings and Men.
Nemo, Forevermore Jun 15, 2017 @ 2:07pm
@ ArbitraryLines Well, D.U.S.T. seems to be doing regular updates according to the news feed, but we will keep an eye on the title.

D.U.S.T

Please guys, rip this game open from the inside out. There is a single developer working on the game, I've been following it's development for almost two years now, and I must say it has been updated. The updates included stripping the ability to play mulitplayer and locking the player to only interacting with a few static dummies who literally do nothing.

The game is horrible, but people are still occassionally buying it and it's absolutely breaking my heart that this terrible developer is just sitting back to rake in money from people. I could honestly go on for hours about the number of things this developer has done wrong; everything about it has been a mess. If you need additional information I will compile relevant links displaying the horrible nature of this game. I will do anything to ensure that people stop wasting their money on a husk of a demo.
Bushido Hunter Jun 10, 2017 @ 11:54am
Subnactica

I really do recommend this game. The game has undergone huge changes from the beginning, it is update often, has a solid story that is intriguing, and the gameplay is actually fun.

The main reason I recommend this game is because the developers, these guys have made solid games before such as the Natural Selection Genre.
Also I believe if you buy the game while it is in early access you will get speical reward for buying before finale release.
BlackSpawn May 21, 2017 @ 7:48pm
Thanks. Will look into the title, hopefully later today.
SpecTRe_X May 21, 2017 @ 6:45pm
@mad_myke I definitely agree that people shouldn't buy it at the moment; something I've told at least one person on the title's Steam forum. I just also don't think it's fair to come to the worst possible opinion of the dev without hard supporting evidence, something I've been explaining to Redrusty.

I'll do my best to keep you/this group informed about any new developments and/or continued progress, should it occur.
