Darkest Hour: Europe 44'-45' Private Testing

Keep in mind that the build you will be playing is INCOMPLETE and a WORK IN PROGRESS; everything is potentially subject to change before the final release.

Follow the instructions below to install the test build and join us on our scheduled test days! If you run into any problems, please report them here on this Steam group!

Getting your machine set up for Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 testing is simple. There is no technical knowledge required! We have created a program that will handle the installation and maintenance of the Darkest Hour: Europe '44-'45 test branch throughout the testing phase.

Follow the instructions below carefully and you will be ready to jump in and join the public test in no time!

Before you can begin the installation process, you please verify that you have Red Orchestra: Ostfront 41-45 installed on Steam!

Download DarkestHourDev.zip from here[www.darkesthourgame.com] and extract it anywhere on your PC.

Run DarkestHourDev.exe and click Update.

The program should be able to locate your Red Orchestra installation directory. However, if it fails to do so, you will need to manually point the installer to the correct directory (eg. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra)

Once the directory has been confirmed, a lengthy download process will be initiated. This download could take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour depending on your connection speed. Please note that if you close the program or otherwise interrupt this download process, you may be forced to start all over again!

If you run into problems updating the game files, it is recommended that you delete the DarkestHourDev folder (eg. C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Orchestra\DarkestHourDev) and initiate the installation process again.

Once the download process has been completed, click Launch to run the game!

Always use DarkestHourDev.exe to launch the game; the program will ensure that your files are up-to-date as the test progresses.

On the main menu, click Quick Play to join the test server!

The test server will be running more or less 24/7, and we will be holding scheduled mass public testing sessions weekly as more fixes and content are finalized.
