Hi, i'd like play with you. How can i start a game online?
Civitar Apr 20, 2014 @ 12:01pm
I saw, that's a relief. But Civ6 can't be too far off...
Finnway Apr 14, 2014 @ 3:04pm
@Ender Yeah, I'm sure you've heard about it by now but it's a spin-off title called "Civilization: Beyond Earth." It's a sci-fi game in the vein of Alpha Centauri.

@Finnway:

Yikes, I just started a huge project for Civ5...

The only problem with this group is that Firaxis is set to announce a new AAA game this weekend from the creators of Civilization and Xcom. It could be Civ 6.

Cool. I'm a pretty big LotR fan. Now Steam just needs a Legend of Zelda group. Fingers crossed.

Sounds good, I have read all of the books Tolkien wrote, even the unfinished tales, which is a compilation of all the notes and processes Tolkien went through on developing his world. So if you need someone who has a good insight into the nitty gritty of these things...I'm your guy.

@Hardwinner. I am also thinking about a Beleriand map, keeps your eyes open ;).

@Hartwinner. I actually just picked up the Simarrlion today at my schools library. I have seen all of the extended edition Lord of The Rings, and both hobbits midnight premiers, but I have not read to far anto any of the books. So I'm planning on reading that, then The Hobbit, and then the Lord of The RIngs.

Hey something else some of you might be interested in is the Beleriand map on the Steam Workshop. The guy who made it has since stopped working on it and has left it open ended for anyone who wants to work on it or add Silmarrilion civs to it. Just a thought, you should check it out if you are interested.

@nemO. Truth be told, my friend and I hadnt even played the map for the longest time, we made it, I started it up and got screenshots, and the didnt play it. Back in December, I was staying the night at his house, and I had a spur of the moment thought. I wanted to figure out to play multiplayer with mods, so I did, and then we played for hours, and continued our game. I took screenshots of the progress, and initially we had problems getting past turn 10, so I did some tweaking, and we got to 50, then we had errors, but I finally got it working. We went well past 150 and we never had any problems, I have all the screenshots documenting the game and what was happening, I am waiting until I release a video on how to do multiplayer with mods to release the screenshots.

Thanks for the invite - still play the map occasionally, time permitting and still on the same civ I started with all those moons ago. It seems *everyone* wanted to capture Mordor and it was a long drawn out struggle to escape from it's confines. I believe it was due to having such a mass religion draw from tundra tiles and that there weren't a lot of hills etc elsewhere for the AI to mine, In addition to which practically all the Alu and Uranium seem to be there. Happy days for me :) though the AI did make up for it in gold. Interesting map and worth playing on but if I may it would need a little resource tweaking (e.g. The lonely Mountain looks very lonely :) I'm just grateful Hiawatha and Boudica didnt spawn near those woods - that would have been a huge campaign, given their resemblance to elves. Thoughts for your next upgrades - introducing the races :) good luck
