Here are my thoughts after reading about recent events.
Henlo henlo, I hope you dont mind sharing a little bit of my opinion here in a rather lengthy letter.

After learning about recent events regarding the humongous ammounts of peoplekicked/banned from the server (including me), I cant help but to feel sad, bummed out, and even a little bit betrayed about this problem. Now, anyone who feels sad/frustrated because of the loss of free emotes is completely entitled to their feelings about this event. But betrayed? how someone that was there just for the emotes could even dare to feel betrayed when all he did was leeching? well that sounds rather bad but let me elaborate.

While I agree that the owners are in their complete freedom to kick inactive people from their server, and do whatever is best for their own active users and server issues, you have to remember most if not all of the people that joined the server did it for the incredible ammount of GameWisp emotes (me included). This server had (or still has) one of the biggest if not the biggest ammount of GW emotes still available to their users, and after the unfortunate decisions that lead to BTTV stopping the support of free global emote supports, then outright pulling them out of Discord, and then the clashing that happened between GameWisp and Discord, servers like these became some sort of "bastion" for people to seeking the freedom of expressing themselves with silly faces without having to pay a dime to Discord.

Now you might say "look at this poor bastard, too miserable and greedy to pay only 5 dollars a month, and making a fuss about something he never paid for not even with his mere presence." While thats a very valid criticism of all the people that feel angry about being kicked from this server, including myself, you have to remember that the invite link was publicly available to everyone who desired to join, and the biggest pull from the server was its humongous collection of free emotes: an entire block of images dedicated to anime, memes, and danganropa emojis, plus the normal ammount of animated and normal discord emojis available for Nitro users "WELL sign me the ♥♥♥♥ in!" is the first thought of anyone who encountered the invite in any server that featured an emote list.

There is some sense of comradedry between GW servers that exists because of the reasons that lead them to their popularity; that sense of providing something that can not longer be obtained to people that can not obtain it. A lot of servers "band" with each other because of this and promote each other, they dont mind the inactives and hold events for those who actively participate. Im sure the same happened here but the ammount of people looking for free emojis was too much. While Nitro is a cheap way to obtain literally every single emoji in the entire plataform, not everyone is able to just pull out their credit card and pay for it, or they just dont want to risk spending money on the internet for a number of reasons, or they just simply dont even own a credit or debit card, or the most used explanation: "why should I subscribe ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ emojis". You could counter this reasoning with "hey! they accept paypal now!" And thats so exciting and cool and easy becasue ITS PAYPAL AND ♥♥♥♥ andddd paypal still requires a credit/debit card or a bank account linked to it so you can use it for Nitro... :steamsad:

In conclusion: I understand why this happened, IT HAD TO HAPPEN, all of this free emoji shenanigans is just a losing battle. The servers that are left will bloat with users and then inevitably explode (maybe even literally), and it could also be a threat to Discord's practices, but I cant still help but to feel cheated out of my free emojis when the invite link was so publicly displayed and the server welcomed those who seeked them, specially with the owner/staff's explanations. Server issues? I completely understand. Too hard to moderate? completely agree, purge them all. But "we wont create a second server for our active userbase because this server has a history?" Ehhh i'm not buying it, or any other similar explanations. This server was advertised as a was a Free Global Emotes server first and then a Danganropa/Chiaki fanclub second, not the other way around. You could have just moved all the actives to a better server, and "close" the old one by leaving just a single channel in which no one will be able to talk, and all they can do is look at the free emojis it has. But thats just a silly suggestion, I know the issues are larger than that, maybe Discord will help the server without removing the GW emojis and we will all be able to FLOCK in the tens of thousands once again, or maybe not.
Either way its sad to see this server "go", its just frustrating. All i can say now is thanks for letting us, and letting me use what others paid for. I know its silly "its just emojis" but I mean... MeguSmug was something special to have.
