Ramp up the phong lighting to give it more of a shiny effect. You can also use an env_mask to reflect the world.

Are you importing a .zip file? Or are you doing everything like described in the video? Sometimes if you import a .zip file, it won't register it as compatible.

That's the thing, though. I can't really form an opinion with 1 picture.

Make sure the addon is compatible with version 6.29. And secondly, make sure you don't unzip the addon. You should downgrade blender if the SMD tools script hasn't been updated yet. The guy who writes that script can only work so fast.

When you compile using the in-game importer, it should put an extra copy of your .mdl file in your /models/workshop/ folder. So it should be there...
