Bottom line for item etiquette?...
Hello everyone.

I have an etiquette question for the forumers. I have on my hard drive three items for the heavy. They're physically finished and ready to go, they just needed their graphic design. And wouldn'tcha know it, I look on the workshop today and see them posted... well, 1.5 and other related things.

Here's the skinny. Should I post my completed bowling shoes and accessories? To be objectively honest, I believe my shoes may be sleeker, but his shirt idea is really nice because it's smarter with the fit. I was having a devil of a time trying to get the weighting to work on a full cover. We have differing third items. However, if I posted now, garnering the hatred of the very people we look for votes from does not seem wise at all. And frankly, bowling shoes isn't worth it.

But I look at how many hours I put into the items that are finished save for their advertisement and cringe. They were done! They just needed screengrabs. :(

I asked before whether re-imagined old ideas were available, but this is nearly the same thing with the shoes. They look different, but they're still bowling shoes, yanno?

What do you guys think of this scenario? I'm sure it's come up before for many here, but what is the best course of action? Is there ugly fallout and shunning? Does it matter if it was unintentional and just the stars aligned on the same idea?

Thank you for your thoughts.

I'd go ahead and post them. If you do it quickly enough, it will be obvious that you just happened to come up with the same idea at the same time. If you wait, it will look like you just copied their idea.

Nobody can really contest original work. If it's original, then it's original. As long as you didn't copy/paste anything, I think it's fine. If Valve hasn't added something that's been in the workshop for a while, and someone decides to remake it as a different model, I still think that's fair game.

Thank you for your advice, much appreciated. I hate being in this position. I took your suggestion and hastily got my posts out there. I'll get the proper graphic design up in the next bit and hopefully they'll look good. I even had alternative texture designs for the bag and shirt!

Why is it ideas run so close sometimes? I mean the concept is really out of the blue, there's nothing bowling in the game. It's like brainwaves were pulled out of the aether.

Could be that he's a mutant with the power to read peoples' minds. Who knows
