Texturing skin for a hat
I'm trying to make some hair for Scout, but after finishing it, I noticied some of Scout's default hair still appears, so I modeled some skin to hide it.

Now my problem is, how I texture it properly?

I cant get the shadows/colors right, did anyone ever had to edit skin textures to make a hat?

As far as I know you're going to have to match the skin texture and shading exactly. Extract the scout head texture from the .vpk and see how the vmt was set up. Then mimic any shading masks, phong exponents, and rim lighting.

Welp, got the texture exatcly like it is on the Scout model, messed around the shading and all, but it didnt work.

I've never run into this situation before, so that's how I would have approached it. Can you try contacting someone who has done something like this before? See if you can figure out how they did it.
