Higher quality gifs
Hey guys! I really need some help.
I've seen people with decent quality gifs on their steam profile, but whenever I turn my frames into a gif, the quality becomes significantly worse than the wallpaper (see my profile). I create using after effects and turn the frames into a gif using photoshop.
So how can I do better?
Edit: being helped!

To improve the quality try to:

1. Reduce the colours, there are a lot of colours used in the glitch effect.
2. Reduce the amount of pixels that change (shrink the glitch effect)
3. Reduce the length of the gif (mine is actually 2 seconds but loops really well)
3. I'm not sure what that framerate is but try to lower it

If you look at my profile, I use similar colour schemes. Using more colours means that your gif will suffer a larger size. Try to go for something that matches your background i.e if its snowy, have other elements with the same colour scheme.

Gifs suffer from colours the most so reduce it by having only a few similar colours.

Also, don't use 10 seconds...Thats crazy.

Yeah my gif is shorter and I think It looks better already!
Quick question, where do you get those awesome anime girls and such, I'm scared of copyright claims, is there like a website where you can get them for free?

Well if you ask permission and credit the original creator, then I see no problem. As long as you don't claim you drew the characters yourself. Usually you can get A LOT on deviantart and some original creators may have already listed it for people to use it for free but if you're usure, you can always ask them for permission.

Most people on steam don't even care about asking permission and go straight to the work. If you are one of those, ATLEAST credit the creator. I always do that on the website that I have made which sends a direct link to the creator, whether its the render artist or the artwork artist.

Use EZGIF export to .mov with H264 and use video to GIF or GIF Optimizer.
