Severe lag issues
Hello,

I'm having an issue with pretty bad lag in game. It works fine in the overworld, but whenever I get into the context menu it slows to a crawl and I cannot do anything, basically.

I have a GTX 970 and Phenom II x6 1100t oc'd to 4Ghz, so it shouldn't be my system. I use Applocale emulator to install and play the game, and have all HF patches installed. I'm on windows 10.

Any ideas?

I'm having the same problem, but randomly after the game worked perfectly for over a year. Any solutions yet? I'm on a desktop with a GTX970, i54690K and 16GB ram so it makes no sense at all.

Edit: The problem happens on both the editor and game; a ludicrous amount of lag that makes it unplayable by any standards.

Yeah, exactly. The game worked fine for me after a year... could it be a driver related thing?

Nah, I both updated and rolled back the drivers, no change in how it goes. Also made a fresh install, no mods or anything, but the problem persists.

Exactly the same thing starting happening to me recently no idea why. The game worked perfectly (for a japanese game) before that

I have a half empty 3TB hard drive, so I really doubt it's that.

Guys! I believe I'm close to an answer here. By changing the settings at random on the editor, I managed to reduce the lag drastically. It seems to be a problem with rendering some specific effect, but it'll take time to test all possible combinations. Sadly, my setting buttons are in japanese so I have no idea on what the f**k I'm doing, but I'll post a solution as soon as I find one.

Edit: nope, false alarm. What I did discover is that with rendering method type 2 and enabled hardware vertex I managed to raise my fps from .5 to 10.

The type two rendered is less complex than the type one so that would make sense. Has anyone tried uninstalling Nvidia Experience? Or rolling back drivers again? It worked once, so it must be a GPU variable.

There seems to be a problem with "older" I5 CPUs, BIOS and Windows 10.
If you are running Windows 10, try updating your BIOS.

I am using a Asus Maximus VIII Ranger, Intel I5 CPU. One of the symptoms was, that my CPU appeared to be constantly under at least 80% workload. (A problem that I ignored after setting this system up)

I am indeed using an i5 CPU and win10, but until april (more or less) the game worked perfectly. Besides, I constantly keep an eye on my PC's performance, and it does not show any problems. I will try updating the bios though.

I'm on an AMD Phenom II x6, I doubt there would be cross brand issues. Although the bios might be it.

Any of you having the proble is on an AMD GPU? I might switch to the built in intel one to test it.

I suspect Windows 10 and BIOS integration behind it.
Might also affect AMD.

I think it's because of the Windows 10 anniversary update that happened this month
Also try setting High perfomance in the nvidia control panel, as well as the windows one

I set both power settings to prefer maxiumum performance.

Also try ending some background processes and only have the game running. I have noticed atleast a 5-10 framerate boost from the freed CPU.
