The GGS Barwon CS:GO 2v2 Invitational has ended! It was a brilliant tournament with many upsets as well as many suprises. All the teams entered did their best and Angels would like to wish them all a huge congratulations for what they have achieved!

Tears and I came into this tournament not knowing what to expect, with many new faces (as well as old faces) being around. The event was a huge success with many many participants [i.imgur.com] involved! Everyone gave it their all across the week, with smaller prizes and games available to be played for those that were knocked out as well! (Mini matches with skins as rewards/wagers etcetc). Despite not actually being physically there and having to play through a relay server point in Singapore, we could still feel the excitement and tense gameplay, overhearing the crowds on Skype calls and really just having people cheering for teams was quite exciting.

Having fought through tough opposition to reach the finals meeting Team Vox, we found it extremely hard to hold our own, with a tense warm up before the finals. Meeting Team Vox for the first time on skype was also a very enjoyable experience, learning that they had previously played CS1.6 for the past 7 years since they were 11! And recently moving to CS:GO in late 2012. After the all the introduction was completed, the game began!

The finals is set as a Best of 3 Deathmatch first to 100 format. With the first team to 2 games, winning the tournament!

Immediately after the first 5 minutes of the first game @ Nuke, we found out how strong they were. Their rifling accuracy was immense, with Tears and I getting ripped to shreds by AK-47 and M4a4 headshots coming left right and center! We tried our best to fight back with Tears using his AK-47 and I AWPing, but in the end lost the first game 71-100.

When the 2nd match began @ Dust 2, Tears and I concluded that I should not AWP as quite often a miss shot meant a bullet in my head, instead we went on the offensive with both of us on the AK-47. Tough fire fight with flashes everywhere and tracer rounds penetrating through thick smoke! Suprisingly this was the quickest end to a round in the entire tournament! With the round finishing in just under 15minutes! (Games averaged 24minutes.) Thank heavens though Angels manage to win this round to get back in the game with a shout! Angels won 100-75

At this point in time, both teams agreed to take a 10minute toilet/drink break. Both heart racing knowing that the next win takes the prize!

Match 3 begins @ Dust, both teams quickly drew blanks as each kill was compensated for another, Angels and Vox kept the score line even, and similar to the semi-finals, both teams were playing very passive with no real pushes forward. Small frags here and there, with long periods of absolutely nothing. Not a footstep, not a gunshot, not a sound. By the 37th minute of the game, the scores were tied at 71-71, both teams refusing to budge. But at the last 2 minutes, Angels decided to take the risk pushing, grabbing 5 kills to set the score at 76-71, but that was not the final say of the game, in the last minute of the game, Vox pulled of some stunning headshots to draw the game level! Match 3 ended in a stunning 78-78 draw!

(By this point in time, you are probably thinking, “jeez, get on with it already”.. well too bad, deal with it :D)

Match 4, the map randomizer rolled… Office. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA YES. Thinking it was ours, then they kicked our ass in the first 5 minutes.. Going to a 9-21 lead. Immediately Tears and I had to change the style of play again, but not to something aggressive or defensive, but to our natural playing style. Immediately adapting to the situation around us. Getting back to fight the score all the way to the 25th minute when the scores were fairly even at 63-66. At this point in time, I decided that Rifling against Riflers would not win the game, instead opting to play AWPer with Tears covering me to slow the game down. By the 35th minute they were still in the lead with the score at 81-86. With Angels staring at defeat in the finals, Tears for some awkward reason decides to grab the Auto-Sniper (ikr? What a ♥♥♥♥♥♥), and slaughters them! Grabbing kill after kill with the auto and GRABBING US THE WIN! Angels won the game at 38min 49Seconds in a great comeback to seal a 100-96 win!

Okay, but we had to be kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ to win with that auto-sniper.. but desperate times calls for desperate measures right?

(Posted a day late due to opposition match postponed)

FragLifeMad (FLM). Our competitors in the semi-finals of the tournament. They are one of the most feared coming into this competition with their top 2 players chosen to play this game. The AWPer James ‘Poopz?’ Treweeke and rifler Shawn ‘SDK’ Khoo. For the past 2 years, their team has dominated the GGS Counter-Strike Source scene, with back-to-back wins in the 5v5 and 2v2 competitions, winning a total of 4 trophies out of a possible 5 (Did not take part in a special Christmas event). Knowing our opponents since we were at GGS 4 years ago, Bastian (Tears) and I (Pess) were worried coming into this game. We have not seen them play in CS:GO nor CS:S, only some games in CS1.6 back in 2009 and 2010. And from what we were told, they have improved immensely.

So as usual, I (Pess) hit all the alarm bells freaking out and asking WHY did we got FLM and not some other team, wishing that they were knocked out earlier. And of course Tears, was there to shut me up.

(Map – Dust) The match began in a flurry with both teams picking up quick frags through the game, but as we reached the 10minute mark, things began to slow down with both teams looking for cover and not attempting any risking pushes or aggressive play. The slow passive match did result in some boos that were heard over the skype call with players (PROBABLY ROOKIES) shouting out that we were wasting time and ruining the game. However both teams did not alter the gameplay. The teams were so evenly match that the game actually ended in a TIE. YES, after 40minutes, the scores were so close ending at 97-97 each, with NO kills occurring in the last minute of the game.

This meant that the game had to lead on to a 2nd round in order to find a finalist. With a roll of a dice, the map was chosen. Italy. I manage to pull I cheeky smile. With majority of teams in the competition avoiding any hostage matches and /are inexperienced in those maps, Tears and I assumed we had the upper hand. And so we did, Angels started very strong picking many frags in the first few minutes of the game. Overpowering FLM with ease, however as the game went on, FLM began fighting back as they adapted to Italy. But by then it was too late, Angels assumed a strong lead and FLM was unable to catch up with them. Angels managed to win the final game 100-61.

Extremely hard game and a hard fought victory to accompany it. SOOO. WE ARE IN THE FINALS. We will be facing Team Vox’s Nigtone and Botsy (idk their first and last names..) in the finals. Not much is known about Vox at this point in time, they are fairly new to the school with this being their 2nd year. Though we have been warned that they are very very strong riflers with past history in playing games such as CS1.6 and Blackshot. So hopefully we can play against them and beat them!

Finals will be held tomorrow at 8am +8GMT. AND I do have permission to stream, so those that want to watch if you can wake up, turn in to www.twitchtv.com/drpess to watch a livestream of the match! (However if it results in a hugely affected ping or fps drop, the stream will be closed. Apologies in advance.)

I'm too tired to write a lot of ♥♥♥♥ now so im going to bed like after this. So we beat ClockWerk Gaming in a suprisingly comfortable manner. Oh well. So here was the score:

Today was the final round of 16, where the big games begin. All the kids and new guys that are still rookies went out in the beginning rounds. This round we would have had 2 opposing teams, but due to some apparent difficulties one of the teams that we were against did not show up giving us a bypass in that game. So we only went up against SanitaryPad.ORG, a female team that won the CS1.6 tournement last year.

They were probably one of the teams that we wished would not have to face so soon, but alas luck was not on our sides. Through the pre-game skype call where teams met face to face, they were shocked to see that Tears and I were in the competition as we left in 2011, they are good old friends and spent a few minutes catching up before the game commenced. The players that we were up against were Molly 'Rouge' Dowling and Isabella 'Periodz' Daney.

It was an extremely tough match, but we successfully Angels pulled through with Tears rolling back the years in a vintage performance by him. After Pess... sort of screwed up under pressure because of Molly often teased him throughout the game.
