Becoming rather annoyed with the number of dingbats and difficulty finding a pub game I have opted to create a private group for those Alien Swarm players I know have a brain in their heads

How To: Make a Dedicated AS server

* Go to the Tools tab in Steam and double click the "Alien Swarm Dedicated Server"
* A window will pop up with some server settings:
o Type in a Server Name.
o Type in an RCON password of your choosing.
o Click Start Server.

Some useful settings to customize once the server is running:

* Under the "Configure" tab, you can set the Default Campaign. When no players are on the server, it will default to this campaign.
* In the "Console" tab you can enter "sv_steamgroup <n>" where N is the ID of your chosen Steam Group. Players belonging to this group will see your dedicated server from the main menu. You can find your ID number by visiting your Steam Group admin page on Steam Community.

First up is a list of console commands, many of which can be added to an AutoExec.cfg file(add to: C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\alien swarm\swarm\cfg)

asw_fast_reload_under_marine 1
- Places a fast reload bar under your actual marine so you don't need to look in the corner to time your reload. Or rely on the poor cursor fast reload bar.

can't get swarm to work. Menu screen pops up for a couple seconds then POOF disappears and I'm back at the desktop. I've tried the -windowed flag, I'm <I>trying</I> to update steam but the client update dl freezes at 22.84/22.85 MB... ffs My first full weekend in a month and I gots no game!

And of course some little ♥♥♥♥ on the Steam forums wants the flamer gimped now.

"I want to make the game harder"
Then mod the game for your own amusement, that's what the SDK is for...
