Serious Sam 3: BFE - Reindeer Hunter (Decorate the Christmas tree on each level to unlock Rodolfo player model);
Electronic Super Joy - Bonus Content For All, And For All A Good Night (Complete all the holiday levels);
Hammerwatch - Xmas 2013 (Collect 24 presents over any amount of games);
Interstellar Marines - Xmayhem Terminator (Pick up The Gift to become the T-IM101), Hasta La Vista, Baby! (Terminate the T-IM101).
And more to come... Maybe... So question is: those achievements are for Winter Sale 2013 Event or for... something (because so few games get them for now)? What do you think?
Seriously though, this should not be a thing. People have other stuff to do on christmas, yet these achievements are tainting the stats all year.
All it does is force people (who care about achievements) to play specific games at specific times, instead of games they happen to find fun at the time.
EDIT: Just checked the Serious Sam 3 discussions and found a comment about the achievement from a developer:
So if you miss your chance to get that achievement you won't be able to 100% the game.
He's just saying it will be obtainable during winter festivities (which take place around new years).
Additionally (up until now, at least), the Serious Sam 3 winter theme can always be called upon by changing your system clock to christmas time.
The achievement for Hammerwatch is named "Xmas 2013" though, and that is somewhat irksome. Might even weigh in when I decide if I want to buy the game or not (I tend to buy small games during sales).
I consider an achievement you can no longer legitimately obtain as broken.
Next christmas, your system clock will be christmas time by default.
Serious Sam 3's christmas achievements are available depending on your clock, regardless to whether it's the true date or not.
I agree.
Christmas achievement for Cave Story+ may be obtainable only 24th of December and achievements for DEFCON and Toki Tori during December.
That's all I know.
