How to "keep" free to play games on the library.
Many of us have most likely done some achievements on free games that don't remain on the library after uninstalled. Some people just tend to forget these games, but others like to keep track of them. Many would like if they could keep them on the library forever, even if unistalled, without having to buy a DLC or do a in-game transaction. Some months ago a bug in one of the beta updates made all free to play games appear on user's libraries, but was quickly fixed. Now, it is still impossible to keep free 2 play games on the library without having to pay anything, but there is a alternative, if we can call it that. This will most likely require you to have the latest beta.

Step 1: Install your free to play game.
Step 2: right click on it, go to categories and set the game as hidden.
Step 3: go see your "hidden games" tab on your library. The game will be there. Uninstall it and he will remain there.

This works for any free to play title, demos and even free weekend games (even though it appears, obviously, a "buy" button istead of a "play" one). Here is a screenshot that includes Ironclad Tactics (last weekend free game) and some demos: http://imgur.com/bGqsSdc

This may not be a definitive solution, but is progress, nevertheless. I hope this helps some of you who are "addicted" to have everything organized and clean.

Or you can just keep them installed.

Mine took about 30Gb installed, and 30Gb on a 420Gb partition takes some space.

this is smart. this is one thing that bothers me, that i can't pin f2play games to my library even if i uninstall them.

Another thing you can do is not use steam to delete local content but go into steamapps folder and manually delete everthing. It wills till appeared installed on steam, but it will only take up 1kb of data on your hard drive. if you ever want to play again u can verfiy integrity and it will redownload everything.

what steam really needs to implement is a way to just pin or unpin the game from your library. if people don't want the game to show up anymore, they simply unpin it and uninstall it and its gone. if people like us want it to stay there even while uninstalled, we can have an option to pin it. IF the method u provided here exists, then what im saying shouldn't really be that hard to implement.

As I briefly stated above, some months ago there was a bug that made Free to Play games appear on user's libraries and that was quickly fixed, so it's possible to do it and, most likely, very easy to do also. Here is a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/3ccBII8.png

But does it really work if you do ingame transaction? So far i know that when you buy a DLC of a f2p game it unlocks permantely in library but im not sure if the ingame store transaction works the same way. My issue is with Digimon Masters Online which has ingame store that works with Steam wallet but it doesn't have a DLC on the Steam store.

Edit: Ingame transactions are not working at all, only when buying DLC

It doesn't AFAIK. Only paid DLCs or free ones activated with key.
