Looking For Fun, 20-40hr Single-Playthrough Games to 100%
See title.

Basically games that don't require more than 1 playthrough or missable achievements. I enjoy games that take 20-40 hours to complete, of any genre. My favorite genres are survival, horror, 3D Platforming, comedy, and puzzles.

Some games I enjoyed 100%-ing:
1. Bugsnax
2. Psychonauts 2
3. Nobody Saves the World (except the difficulty-related achievements)
4. Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart
5. Thank Goodness You're Here
6. Subnautica

Games I would/did not enjoy 100%-ing:
1. Elden Ring/Dark Souls/Lies of P (Don't like requirement to replay)
2. Little Nightmares (difficulty-related replay)
3. Sons of the Forest (repetitive and blind grind for food items + boring total nights slept)
4. Hades (and most other rogue-likes) (repetitive gameplay/grind)

Let me know what you recommend!

Given your specific criteria of games, I can think of a few that I really enjoyed and you might as well:

The newest main series release in the popular Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. A remaster of an old game and a brand new game with Shadow as the main character. I really loved this one. Going for all the S ranks was a fun challenge - not too easy, not too hard. The only achievements I could see you struggle with is take no damage against the final boss in both games, but you can repeat it as many times as you want as well as restart from the pause menu to retry when you do get hit. :ShadowGenerations:

Very chill, relaxing 3D platformers that are fairly easy in their difficulty. These are three of my absolute favourite 3D platformers of all time, especially Year of the Dragon. Getting all the achievements isn't all that hard, either. You do need 100% in Spyro 1 and 2 to get all the achievements, but they're fun games to 100% on their own anyway. :spyro:

If you love a good RPG with cute charming characters and colourful environments featuring an art style reminiscent of the old Paper Mario games, this one is for you! Even the grind towards the maximum rank can be done naturally as you complete the game's side quests, and any bosses you don't beat on Hard Mode your first time around can be re-fought later with better gear and upgrades so they're not missable. :peacefulbee:
Sorry on phone so can’t get store link but here are a few that I enjoyed

1) Before Your Eyes (4hrs) - emotional story game based on the mechanic of blinking

2) Superhot (22 hrs)

3) Papers Please (7-15 hrs)

4) Outer Wilds (one of my favourite exploration mystery games of all time) (40hrs)

5) Middle Earth Shadow of Modor (40hrs)
6) Middle Earth Shadow of War (50hrs)

Not sure if you’ll like 5 or 6 but for the time I enjoyed the game but may be little too repetitive at points. If you like lord of the rings universe then worth looking at some videos of it.
You already have some gems in your library: A Plague Tale: Innocence, BioShock Infinite, Doom, and Hellblade, though they vary in length.

22hrs

@NBOX21, thanks for the classic recommendations. I decided to give SONIC X SHADOW GENERATIONS a try. I was never the biggest Sonic fan, but I enjoyed watching him on Saturday mornings in the early 2000s. I might also return to Spyro—I started 100%-ing that trilogy but I find achievement hunting game bundles to be daunting. I was considering Kingdom Hearts 1 - 3, but I can't convince myself to play 3 games back-to-back, multiple times lol.
@Particleッ I'll give Before Your Eyes a try after I buy a new webcam. Papers Please might be a backlog game I'll try next time I'm looking for a new game. I loved Outer Wilds, and was interested in achievement hunting, but after failing to land on the space station on the Sun for the umpteenth time, I gave up lol.

That's a good point—I might have to go back and do some of these. I started achievement hunting Bioshock 1 somewhat recently, but missed an audio log and was too annoyed to run back and try to find it. Really wish games with scavenger hunting mechanics had built-in checklists. I'll look into Bioshock Infinite and see if scavenger hunting is improved there.

I have yet to even play Plague Tale: Innocence and Doom, and keep putting off Hellblade for a VR playthrough (I never play VR lol). I'll go back and try some of these.

nice dude, hf. Infinite has chapter replay after you finish the game, so you just have to wait to go back. Yeah, checkmarks for item pick ups in a level would be nice. Plague Tale has those if I remember correctly.

This your kind of survival game?

I enjoyed this game quite a bit, and it seems to be quite an unknown gem imo, I don't know anyone else who's played it and i've not seen it on any other hunters lists.
It also has a free demo with achievements so you can hunt that as well if you like, as well as try the game before you buy it.

You will need to put 10 hours into the demo to complete though but you can transfer your demo save to the main game and keep playing after that to get everything else, so this game offers a nice double 100% if you want it to.

Fade to Silence is another I'd recommend.
I do have to caution that the game does have some bugs and jank to it.. sadly this is very common with German RPG's but nevertheless the game itself is still really fun and enjoyable to play.
The game has survival and horror elements to it so you may like that, but there is a level of difficulty at play as well.. this game can be difficult, but likewise can also be really easy depending on how you play and how reckless you are, that said though it's worth a try, I got hooked on this game when I played it earlier this year and found myself unable to stop until I had 100% it ^^

YookaLaylee was a fun platformer that I enjoyed quite a lot.
There were a few puzzles in this one that took me a few tries to complete but overall it was a really fun game.
There is a remake coming out as well which looks like it will have many improvements, so i'll be 100%ing this game again when that drops.
If you own this version there will apparently be a discount for the remake too so that's also a plus.

I dunno if shooters are your cup of tea but this is a good one if you don't mind them.
Very easy 100% tbh but also a very fun one to play, it's a common one on many peoples completion lists because of that.
I was very surprised by how much I enjoyed this game, specially since I generally have no faith in games based on Movie licences..
This one however is definitely an exception, very good game that honours the source material it's based from and the fans who have long loved this character.

I never realized how many of the games I completed required multiple playthroughs until I browsed my library for recommendations. I found some games that you might be interested in, but they all break at least one of your rules.

(I focused on 3D platformers and puzzle games for this selection).

1. Corn Kidz 64 is a fantastic, but short collectathon 3D platformer. A controller is required to play the game! It's about 9-10 hours.

2. The Big Catch: Tacklebox is another great 3D platformer. Although this one is free and functions as a preview of the obstacles and mechanics of an upcoming game. It's about 8 hours.

3. Sephonie is a fun 3D platformer with a ton of hidden secrets and some odd mechanics. I have a soft spot for this one since I found all of its collectibles without a guide and they are hidden in the craziest places. It's about 13-14 hours.

4. Paquerette: Down the Bunburrows is a sokoban-style puzzle game about cornering bunnies in a series of tunnels. It gets a lot more complicated than it may appear at first glance, but it's absolutely worth playing. It's about 20 hours, but does require a second playthrough for a speedrun that's less than five minutes long.

5. Void Stranger is a fantastic puzzle game about diving deep into a void of puzzles, creatures, and other crazy things. This game expects you to pay attention to everything and may take the average player a lot longer than the 25 or so hours I finished it in. However, that time is reflective of the true ending and not the 100% completion. The game's only achievement is obtained immediately upon opening the game, but it can be taken away from your Steam profile and brought back depending on story progress. I've only ever seen that happen two other times. (One of which is from the same developers). It's a rare achievement mechanic.

It's a very weird game, but I love it to bits. Unfortunately, since the game does become easier with hidden knowledge, you'll likely need a decent number of semi-repetitive playthroughs to learn enough to finish the game's true ending. Especially since the game doesn't tell you which ending is the true one and there was even more content in there that I didn't find.

6. Octodad: Dadliest Catch is from the creators of Bugsnax. The physics are a bit funky and it will require a second playthrough if you didn't do it deathless on your first attempt. Thankfully, the game is rather short and not hard. Restarting a checkpoint does not count as a death which can be utilized if you'd rather not deal with the hassle, but you probably won't need to use it after you get a handle on the controls. Chapter select can be used to pick up anything else that you may have missed. (Controller is required for one achievement). It's about 6-7 hours, maybe less with proper planning and skill.

7. If you want something really weird, check out Who's Lila? It's a game that will require a computer to complete due to some of its insane mechanics. It's primarily about playing as a character that can't control their facial expressions, so you need to move their face for them. Anything more than that would reach into spoiler territory. It's about 4-5 hours.
