How I can get the "Commitment" Achievement in Stanley The Parable?
:p2blue: Hello, I wanted to ask you a question.
I'm trying to get all the achievements of The Stanley Parable, I just have one more.
The latest achievement left for me to get it is:
"Commitment
Play The Stanley Parable for the Entire duration of a Tuesday. "

And although I've obviously looked guides and searched the internet if there is another way to accomplish the feat without having to leave all day on the computer or modifying parameters in the bios.

Do you know if there any other method? And if the only way is to keep your computer on all day, from hour to hour until I have to leave it on running the game?

** Im sorry if some phrase is not well understood, but I'm using Google translator ** :p2orange:

this does not work for all games with this type of achievement and i dont know if it works for getting "Commitment" - but often changing your computer clock while the game is running can trigger what i consider to be "pointless time achievements" (i can think of a completely different game that requires you to stare at 1 picture in their CG gallery for 2 hours to get an achieve.... like really?! -- however it can be circumvented by doing the above)

in this case it does not work alone to change the computer time, to work and must be changed directly from the bios having executed game (I think I read something like that) or directly wait all day.

But I hope there's another method, I do not want to have your computer on all day

You need to leave it on all day. There's no other legit way to do it.

personally, i think that people who make achievements like this should be shot. i mean that is pure sadism to your customers, especially achievement hunters. it's basically making fun of you (which is kind of fitting given the kind of game that 'Stanley Parable' is but cmon now)

edit: part of me is motivated to get this achievement... i could leave the game idle while playing other games. SOME achievements do not proc unless you have the game window as your active open window though. does anyone know if this is an achieve that can be gotten if you leave for 24hrs minimized, or does the game have to be maximized the entire time?

i've encountered achieves where the game has to be maximized for these "time punishment" achievements of 2+ hours or more often, and i hate them with a burning passion. sometimes it's a game i really enjoy even (!) but my opinion of the game just goes down when i think about what kind of malicious person would create a pointless achieve like that.

Well, "should be shot" is a tad hyperbolic, but I don't like it either. Some games do this on purpose just to mess with achievement hunters, like they're saying, "We know you stupid nerds will do anything for achievements, so dance, monkeys!" If you're a dev and you don't like the idea of achievements or people doing stuff to get them, fine. Don't put them in your game.

I honestly thought The Stanley Parable was overrated and overpriced, anyway.

Hahaha well,I understand your rage xD But the truth, coming from this game as "troll" is expected.
Although I like this game achievements that really make you strive, this latest achievement I find annoying, but hey, once we have done already forever xD

The truth he had never "fought" for a very rare achievement xDD

Perhaps you may seem overpriced and overrated, but for the type of players of this game is great.

:p2blue:I'll try to get this achievement next week either way, wish me luck! xD:p2orange:

Greetings! =)

I think if you can get the achievement considering the minimized game, start the game at 11:30 pm on a Monday, and stop it at 1:30 a.m. on the next Wednesday without giving pause, just alt + tab to go to the desktop, I sought guidance ago I used a lot and I was very useful.

The guide that I used is this: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=206099649

I'm actually going for this one today. I've even turned off windows update to make sure the machine doesn't reboot overnight. Apparently, you can leave the game minimized all day, so long as you're past the menu. You've got to "be Stanley" all day, and just setting the clock doesn't work, because the game keeps track internally of how much time has actually passed. So I've started it Monday night, and I'll let you know how it went tomorrow. I'm hoping that intermittent internet disconnects don't shut me down. I'm not even going to take a chance opening another game through steam on this or another computer until tomorrow morning...

Though now that I think of it, you SHOULD be able to get the achievement on any day of the week if you reset your computer clock to Monday night before you start the game... If only you could open it in VMWare and increase the VM clock speed somehow... :p2turret:

(Forgive me for thinking of 'ways around' the achievement... But if the Dev is going to rip off the players by creating impossible achievements, we should be able to rip off the dev by hacking those achievements. And hey, if any of you decide hack any of the achievements in this game, I wouldn't hold it against you!)

Well, it dinged for me overnight, so it looks like it doesn't matter if your network loses connectivity throughout the day, just so long as the program is actually running (even minimized) and you're not on a menu screen. I take this to mean that the game itself seems to be keeping track of how long you're playing, not an external server, and not through the system clock. I'm not sure if it contacts an external server to figure out what day it is though, so you might still be able to set your system time to Monday night, but I didn't test that. I did maximize the game once on Tuesday to get the speedrun achievement too, so it's not like I didn't play at all on Tuesday. :P
