Avoiding Constant Game Swapping
So I wanted to kind of get a feel for what my fellow hunters here do to avoid getting distracted from their goals.

The big thing for me is that I always boot up a game and have the mindset of playing that game until I have 100% completion. This of course does not generally go very well when I start games such as the Witcher 3 that take 100+ hours for the 100%. Another big thing if that I often times get bored of a game halfway through hunting it and jump to the next game, leaving my profile with a ton of game that sit around 20-45% completion and no actual 100% completions in the last year or so.

What do you all do to help you stay on track when hunting a longer game?

the only game i never had an issue with getting them to 100% without being distracted were, unsurprisingly, the games i like the most, with bigger libraries its certain that some games won't be able to hold my attention until the 100%.

After getting 100 completed games (130 atm), my goal shifted to raising the completion percentage to 80% (70 atm), an arbitrary number that tells me imo that i've done enough in the game to justify its purchase.

Funny thing is, after getting the game to 80%, after doing so much, i feel like since the 100% is so close, just a bit more grind or tries, and i can get to 100%.

the last game where that happened were van helsing 1 and 2, and now titanquest, that were sitting around 25% of achievements, and after getting them to 80%, its just feels right to get them to 100%, and the grind doesn't stop.

This way i'm usually working on about 3 games at a time, without feeling bored or like playing is a chore, this was my aproach to game swapping that was also affecting me, and so far i'm liking the results.

I hope my aproach helps to shed some light on it, good luck and stay safe fellow hunter :winter2019happyyul:

I usually tend to rule myself something: at max I usually only play 1-2 games at a time (3 at the very max, one short game) so I can keep on going with the games and not distract myself to play others (like forgetting the gameplay and objectives), until I fully complete them.

My advice for you: You should stop buying new games and complete all of your ones in the library. Golden rule for me: only buy games on the long-term, for example and this is what I do: buy games on Winter Sale that can last from there till Summer Sale, at max maybe buy one or two games inbetween, like new releases. This way it will create discipline and motivation till the next sales, a new goal that is to complete the games you bought in that time-frame.

Cheers :emofdr:

Great advice from both of you! I can agree on the not buying new games until I complete the ones I have currently. A system I’m going to try is the 3 games plus 1 short title/ game that is really close to being at 100% for a total of 4 in a rotation. Example rotation would be Forza Horizon 4, Jurassic World Evolution 1, Spider-Man and Assassins Creed Origins. I can guarantee that I will never have a majority of my library completed, but I can at the very least make it a habit to complete 10 games maybe and reward myself with 1 new game.

Complete main-story 100% and leave the game if you are bored. After a while watch some content related to the game, series, movies or something.. You'll want to play it again.
