What's astats ?
Before joining astats I need to know a little :
1°). What is made for and what astats provide much better than Steam ?
2°). Is there an agreement or something like this between Steam and astats ? What's their relations ?
3°). Is A gamer on steam automatically referenced on astats (I don't fell so but need to know)?
4°). When referencing on astats, which Steam files are used by astats to create his profile ? Local files or Steam cloud files ?
5°). Is astats intrusive on your profile ? Or to be more "direct": is astats a weak point for your Steam account ?
Thanks for reading my thread and thanks a lot for your answers :mystbox:

1) Astats is a community that is centered around achievement hunting. The site includes guides for games/achievements, achievement tracking with a point based system centered on rarity of the achievements and several leaderboards for various achievement related metrics such as total 100%'s etc. It also tags achievements that require a specific dlc, as well as marks what games have been removed from the store and when specific achievements are verified as broken.

2) The two aren't really affiliated other than Astats making use of Steam's API and community data.

3) If you search for your profile on Astats or someone else does then Astats pulls the data from Steam, but if that doesn't happen then it's not automatically on Astats.

4) Neither cloud files or local files. Steam stores your achievements, play time, game stats, etc on it's own server's and that information can be accessed via the api or xml files for a given game/profile as long as the profile is public.

5) Astats isn't intrusive as it's only accessing information from Valve and not your computer or account nor does it alter anything or have the capabilities to as it's just a website. It only has access to the data that Steam openly provides. As far as "weak point" I'm not entirely certain what you're asking there.

So is it the steam version of Trueachievements or X360achievements (and the sister PSTrophies)?

I don't know if the others mentioned this, but in case you haven't thought it out- you won't be able to keep your profile private. I don't use astats because in my view, it's for the competitive achiev.hunters.. that care about rank and all that. You can also use it for looking up hidden achiev's.. that's usually the only reason I go there, and that of course doesn't require an account.

Yes I have understood that for using astats I will have to make public my Steam profile. But don't find necessary for the moment to use astats because with Steam : I can see hidden achievements, the time necessary to end a game, my achievements stats for each game and plan which game I will begin next and even I can plan my next purchases of games at a very good price... All this can be done on Steam with a little organisation :steamhappy:

AStats has a lot more to offer than Steam regarding achievements and don't see why only competitive minded users could enjoy the benefits. All the features I use have nothing to do with scores or leaderboards.

There exists truesteamachievements.com as well. It's not as popular as Astats though, at the moment, though it has a lot of potential with all the features.
