Grunt1991 has been in development for just over three years now, and I am finally at a place where I feel confident to release and early access version to the public. In this short post I'll quickly outline the plans for the title moving forward.

Release Date

Grunt1991 will be releasing into early access on the 31st Of May, which is a Wednesday. I chose this date because it gives me enough time to polish up everything that has been implemented and to make the game as good as I can before the release date. I plan to keep it in Early Access for at least six months, depending on the reception. Although I plan to keep it in Early Access for quite while, more than a year.

What will be included in the early access version and what will be added until full release?

I plan to have four full maps ready for the early access release. These will all be feature complete and will be polished as much as I can. I might update these if needed, but they are solid as is.

These maps will feature a variety of game modes like Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, Gungame and Capture The Flag, with more planned.

There are also 10 weapons and a range of sub-weapons like melee and grenade options planned for early access launch. There will be 2 of each weapon type at early access launch. Weapons will have a variety of attachments available and will all be customizable to some extent.

As for the players and classes, it will be different than the previous Grunt installment. In Grunt1914 there were different classes with different abilities. In this one that system is erased and is a bit more robust. Instead of having a single operator for a certain class you'll now have a base operator for each country, which you will be able to customize yourself. There are no special abilities in this Grunt as we move away from arcade and more into realistic gameplay.

Leading up to the full version I plan to release another 4 maps. I also plan to add at a lot of cosmetic options for players and 8 more weapon at minimum. When I am happy with the development I will release the game, most probably in 2024. These additions are subject to change.

Price

I am not fully set on the price yet but I plan to price the early access version of the game at around 5-7 USD. I feel that this is a good price for what the player gets. This price will be raised as the game is completed so its best to buy early.
