We are thrilled to announce the ISEKAI CREATORS project – a shared world and lore with an optional, purchasable game asset collection that welcomes anyone to create fanfiction for and expand upon!

■ISEKAI CREATORS – What Is It?

○Introduction

Creating RPGs are difficult, due to writing a compelling backstory or worldbuilding being quite a time-consuming task. Through ISEKAI CREATORS, we seek to help creators kickstart this process by providing a free back world setting that anyone can borrow and expand on!

The lore of ISEKAI CREATORS was created by Takuji Endo from the FarEast Amusement Research Co.,Ltd. (aka F.E.A.R.). Endo is known as the mastermind of many TRPG lore and unique worlds for JRPGs. ISEKAI CREATORS’s lore is based on the genre of isekai (lit. otherworld – often about someone from the real-world drifting into a completely different world), currently popular in many Japanese manga and anime. The lore is designed in such a way with exciting, but just enough information to not deter the creativity and freedom of expansion for creators who wish to take part!
The ISEKAI CREATORS lore is now available for viewing today via the official site link below. Creators are welcome to create any contents based on it, and are not limited to video games (e.g. anime video, illustrations, novels, short-stories, etc.). There will be a professionally created, planned Official Asset collection available for purchase at a later date, for those who are do not wish to create assets from scratch. Any fan-creations made by individuals that are not merely direct modifications of the planned Official Assets can also be used for commercial purposes freely.

○Synopsis

Hy-Brasil is an undeveloped continent located west of the well-developed Telepassa Continent. The land is known as a harsh land where powerful monsters are rampant, and civilization cannot be maintained without the protection from Force Barriers. Despite this, under the initiative of the Republic of Albion, thousands of adventurers gather here under the banner of "Pioneers' Guild" - seeking to uncover the legacy of ancient civilizations that cannot be reproduced with current technologies and explore the rich lands for the thrill of uncovering the unknowns.

The year is now 1722 of the Holy Calendar - a group of young men and women from an alternate realm arrived at the Frontier Point, each possessing unique abilities never seen to the dwellers of this world. What consequences will their arrivals bring? That is the story that we want creators to tell!

　In celebration of ISEKAI CREATOR’s announcement, the launch Music Trailer and main theme song Shifter is now open for viewing on GGG’s official YouTube. The Music Trailer song and lyrics are composed by Nejishiki, a famous name in the Vocaloid community, the illustration by Chierico, and the video production by Fujino.

■ISEKAI CREATORS Official Asset Collection

　As mentioned earlier, ISEKAI CREATORS will have a collection of professionally made Official Assets available for purchase, for those who do not wish to create assets from scratch. The currently planned release date is April 6, 2023 on an external store first, with Steam version following soon. The price and the detailed contents of which will be announced later, as well as the planned Steam version.
The Official Assets are currently optimized for the planned RPG Maker Unite, but a part of the assets is planned to be re-adjusted for use with RPG Maker MV and RPG Maker MZ.

▼Main Characters

　While most of the assets are made under the presumption that they will be used for RPG Maker Unite in particular, the users are free to use these assets in other engines such as Unity, or create any other non-gaming contents such as fanfic videos, illustration, novels, etc.
There is also no limitation that users must use the assets according to the official lore. Also, like the official lore, commercial activity is allowed for personal uses given that users agree to the usage guidelines.

RPG Maker 3D Character Converter Released on Steam!

■RPG Maker 3D Character Converter is Now Available for Purchase on Steam!

We are thrilled to announce that the Character Converter is now available on Steam!

Although originally intended to be used for the WIP RPG Maker Unite engine, the converter mini-app has many export resolution options that allow it to be used for existing RPG Makers titles as well. By releasing this app right during the currently running RPG Maker Festival 2023 Steam event, We wish to provide RPG Maker users with a means to quickly create new game assets and make game development more fun!

As was announced by us in the past, the default character sprite assets of RPG Maker Unite were made from VRM models and converted into 2D sprites. The RPG Maker 3D Converter is a mini-app that aims to turn a supposedly complex conversion process into something that anyone can use easily!

（Simply import VRM models and select the desired frames to be retained, and output with mere mouse clicks!）

（What is VRM: A platform-independent file format designed for use with 3D characters and avatars in the VR era. (Please refer to the VRM Consortium[vrm-consortium.org] for details))

■Use in Conjunction with Popular VRM Generation Apps Such as VRoid Studio or VRM Models Purchased Commercially!

The RPG Maker 3D Character Converter is compatible with any humanoid-type VRM models. As such, users can either create their own models using modeling software or generation apps such as VRoid Studio, as well as downloading/purchasing off the shelf from sharing sites such as VRoid Hub and various asset selling platforms(*) to be used for 2D sprite conversion. We greatly encouraged users try many models to make a more varied, vivid game world!

RPG Maker Unite Dev Log #11 - UI Customization

Dear Game Developers! This is Shiguren again.
Today I would like to touch briefly about UI-Customization in the current default state.

In RPG Maker MZ, settings related to UI were categorized into the “System 2” tab. In Unite this has been moved and now it has got its own category.
What can be changed currently are mainly as follows - main menu and the underlying functions, the battle menu, and dialogue menus. We will go through each briefly one by one.

First is the “Shared Settings”.
This is where users can set the fonts and window colours.

Above is an example of changing window colour. For better visual demonstrative purpose, we set transparency(A) value to maximum (255) in the RGBA option.

The Items menu is pretty similar to previous RPG Makers. Now it is possible for users to visually see what menu tab has been turned on or off.
The following is the stat viewer. As seen in the right hand RPG Setting panel, there are no particular settings to edit here, just for confirmation purposes.

Down below is the settings for Dialogue Boxes:

When displaying messages, it is now possible to have message tied to a particular character. The character can be either an “Actor” (playable character) or an NPC. If properly defined, the character’s name, face portrait / pictures are automatically displayed.
However, as of now, since the picture numbers are identical, it is not possible to use this feature and display multiple different pictures.
Of course, manual settings are still possible just like past titles.

Q: Is there a feature to switch between pictures and face portraits?
A: In the current build there is no such function. However we are still evaluating many things in our post launch update.

Q: Is there a way to move each button to wherever positions that we want?
A: In the default state there is not. Depending on demand this can be officially considered, or, users can use Addons to alter this part.

Q: In the official Twitter, there was this UI-settings related video. Performance feels sluggish whenever changes are made. What is the reason for this and will it be improved?
A: Since the system needs to re-render when users change pictures, indeed it is currently a little sluggish. However, this is likely to be optimized at some point eventually.

IS this THE END to RPG MAKERS?

As far as I know this will just an addon to Unity engine right? So it will depend on another software which is updated and can be broken. To me this means this is the end to the original RPG MAKER development. Is it right?

Available on the Unity store and some thoughts

It might be a telling sign when this thing is available on the Unity store right now (link below) but Steam hasn't been updated as far as news or the release. I'm sure it'll probably show up later today (May 8). I was looking forward to this and had signed up to request access but never got a notification about it or the release. How would Unity pricing change affect RPGMU?

https://dev.to/godot/unity-new-pricing-in-2024-is-crazy-3hnn Considering that RPG Maker Unite is basically a plugin of Unity. Do you think "RPG Maker Unite" should've been a Godot fork with RPG Maker toolkits tightly strapped on? Surely their license allow it. This is why you shouldn't trust proprietary software.... Time to join the Godot community I guess....

RPGMakerGO (Petition for RPG Maker + Godot instead)

I don't know how to create a petition (sorry for the clickbait) but just wanted to urge the creators to consider changing course (I know it's alot to ask but I assure you it will be worth it) and use Godot instead of Unity. You wouldn't be the only devs doing this and now is the time to take a stand... plus as excited as I was for RPG Maker Unite (RPGMU) honestly (aside from the current situation) I would be more excited for RPG Maker Go (RPGMG) anyway there's a good pun in there too RPG Maker "Go" with Go...
