Heavilly inspired by one of my favorite games of all time and genre of games from my childhood - Planescape Torment, PS1-wave games in general and probably a bit of PS1 LSD simulator.

Lore and combat are also quite interesting and unique, so it's another good reason to give it a try. RPG mechanics are exactly like in any good 90s game - so yeah, peak of RPG and combat is kinda like FPP Soul's like with many weapons variants and styles.

If I'd have to point one thing which is completelly outstanding in Dread Delusion, I would say - world and location design is one of a kind. Everything seems odd and hard to navigate at the begining but after each hour player understand more and more... It's actually good description for whole game tbh.

Seems like it's already must have but will see what devs were cooking for 1.0 update.

Dread Delusion is a retro RPG, often compared to Morrowind, but don't be fooled, this is not Morrowind 2. There are no complex mechanics, groundbreaking visuals or intense combat. This game however is packed with cool stuff, a VERY interesting world and storyline, fun quests, cool items... all in that retro package. Feels like Morrowind, with a dash of Deus Ex and some Thief, stuffed into that late 90's aesthetic.

I really feel like I'm in someone's super creative D&D campaign and my choices matter. Admitted at first and I had no clue wether or not I was making progress in any quests because there's no real way of keeping track. But I just kept going, exploring, talking to people and everything just fell in to place and started making sense.

If you're not into slow paced gameplay, don't worry: questing is very rewarding, as some quests will unlock massive quality of life options, further speeding up your gameplay, and leveling up will make all dialoque or lockpicking checks way easier.

Maybe a little too easy? I think I have one or two islands and a bunch of quests at this point, and I'm nearly maxed out meaning I can persuade anyone and pick any lock, smash any door and solve every puzzle, thus making progress super fast.

Maybe that's the kind of stuff that's gonna get some balancing when it leaves early access. It doesn't feel bad right now but what was challenging at first is now a stroll through the park.

I am going to give Dread Delusion my upvote because it's a real loveletter to oldschool RPG's, and the unique world, factions and lore really make it fantastic all together.

Take your time, read dialogue, soak in the atmosphere.. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
