ABOUT DAHM4PD

DAHM for PAYDAY: The Heist

You can download the mod on the discussion board under the downloads sub forum. You have to be a member to do this. Please note that due to a Steam bug sometimes the group page says "invite only", even though you are already in the group. Just click the discussions tab to find out if you can do something useful here.

This group is primarily meant as a dedicated place for DAHM/DorHUD, the (primarily) anticheat and HUD modification for PAYDAY: The Heist that is made by DorentuZ`. Despite what the (original) name may suggest, the mod is much than just a HUD modification and therefore the group name looks like something randomish.

Since the development of the first PAYDAY game has stopped a while ago, any bugs and other shortcomings must be addressed by means of user made mods. Despite its name, that's exactly what DAHM/DorHUD does. But that's not all. It's a mod framework (in a sense similar to BLT for PD2) and comes with quite an extended collection of non-intrusive mods that for the most part don't alter the game play in any way or show information that you should not already know. The only exceptions to this are the Overkill 193+ mod for adding a new difficulty and fixes for some serious bugs in the mission files.

For some reason most people think the small line at the bottom is all this mod does and nobody ever mentions the even more useful features. The main features of this mod include fixes for many bugs and other annoyances, it provides a basic form of cheat prevention or detection and give the user some tools to better deal with other players like tracking deployables, preserving mute states and viewing profile data. Other changes include making the menu usable when someone is joining, a more customizable chat, fixed and extra lobby permissions, custom matchmaking filters, restarting and ending the current session, skipping the intro, banning players and setting the lobby status attribute for Steam. While this is a long list, it's nowhere near the full list of features. The small HUD modifications like the line of text that can optionally be at the bottom of the screen is just a bonus and frankly shouldn't even be used.

The mod does not alter any games files, but instead uses a method called 'dll injection'. Installing it is therefore just dragging some files to the games root directory. Although the mods (partially) supports other injectors, don't come here if your cheat is no longer working. You can cheat on your private lobbies all you want, just don't do it in public lobbies. If you ignore this and still think it's a good idea to cheat in public lobbies, I have news for you: it is possible to be permanently banned from lobbies. And yes, even those mask unlockers are cheats and are disrespectful to people that deserved access to them.

New masks DLC and mod update!
New community DLC

With several people taking up modding textures for the weapons, a few months ago I decided to check out what it took to add new assets to the game. The main inspiration being the masks added (well, modified) by Project Platinum. By far the easiest way to do this is to simply add bundles and allow the game to find them. My first proof of concept includes the Project Platinum masks and a selection of PD2 masks that come in a set of four. I've ported them to PAYDAY: The Heist and added code to use them in game, without replacing other content. Of course this is only visible to others with the same assets, so I needed to "spoof" the masks: people without the assets would see something like the clowns mask set. Moreover, to prevent any licensing issues you need to have PD2 in your library to use those masks.

You can find the masks in the downloads section in this group's discussion boards: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/dahm4pd/discussions/3/5358712989065799879/

Now the tool isn't available as it needs a lot of improvement to be functional. I needed a lot of manual work and even updating the bundle database isn't automatic. If I would release it now, it would take too much of my time answering people's questions about it for not knowing how to use it. I do still intend to release it as it would be awesome to see more community content, but it really depends on how much time I have to work on it.

Mod updating issues
For a very long time I've hosted my content on Dropbox. Their service is free, supports automating many things, is well known and easy to use by just about anyone. Unfortunately they've made some changes and one resulted in a bug in combination with the WinHTTP library I use(d) to communicate with it. If either Dropbox or Microsoft solves the issue on their side everything would work fine again, but since they haven't done so as of writing this, I'm forced to include this message. If you're using an older version of DAHM you most likely won't be receiving information about new updates. To prevent these issues in the future, I've added a secondary host that's hosted by someone in the community. So if one of these services goes down or has issues (and indicates that it does), it'll try the other one. At the same time I've switched to OpenSSL by default. This option has been available for a long time, but I never needed to give it much attention.

Long story short, download the update manually from here: https://steamcommunity.com/groups/dahm4pd/discussions/3/

So reading that one description in a mod is "all the talk" huh? That setting is there as it was meant to be the default behaviour, but there's no point making that the default if people will disable it anyway. The idea is to make the kill counter unreliable so you cannot use it to check if you've killed some annoying cop you can hardly see (unless you wait a really long time). So basically just a setting to further reduce the impact the mod can have on your game play. But the summary of that is exactly what's in the description: "Use a randomized interval for updating the kill stats so it's even harder to use them to your advantage."

I don't know why I even bothered adding that as nobody will ever use it. The whole stats line was a mistake. It was just a test to learn more about the game when hardly any info was available. That's also why it looks like crap. People think they need it but it doesn't really show anything useful (by design).

Quick question, what's all the talk about "Exploiting Kill Counts" about? Like in DorHUD's "Update in Random Intervals" setting. Sounds odd considering that barely anyone plays PD:TH anymore.

It's in the hud mod. The option is called "XP panel style", because that's what it was initially. When enabled, you can show options related to this such as presenting a level up when this vrep changes.
