When you press the "play" button, nothing happens, the game does not start, how to solve the problem?

I was wondering in Red Alert, at what points can you actually break the game/make it unwinnable by saving? Definetly when the 2nd Android is spawned. Saving causes him to fall down a hole and being stuck there and impossible to kill... When fighting the first Android you could save on ground floor while he is damaged enough to be killed by water.... if there is no water previously, saving and loading creates the water and you die immediately... Are there other points? This bug really sucks, otherwise ...

As the title says, If I run the game through the desktop shortcut or if I press PLAY on the game's page, the game won't launch. If I go to the installation folder and double click the PCTomb5 exe, the game will run xD. Is it any way to make it run through Steam ? You know, to know how much time I spend in the game and so on...

In coliseum level, in the room where you have to pull a chain several time and then hurry to reach the item on a raised pedi stole... it is impossible to me to get there in time... the pedistole always lowers again before I get there. Now I'm fairly sure I found the fastest path to get there and I saw videos where they were able to get there in time, so is there a (known) bug with pc version, maybe win10/11 related? Though nothing else feels out of place or impossible to do (so far), really strange......

Trying to launch the game or the setup tool from Steam doesn't do anything. I can launch it directly from the exe in the game's folder, but then it runs in a window. I've downloaded the Tomb Raider Multi Patch and run it - it claimed to have done something, but there's been no change. I'd really appreciate some suggestions on what else I could try to get the game running properly. Edit: turning on Windows XP (SP2) compatibility mode made me able to launch the game from Steam, but it still opens in windowe...
