Well, several old legendary games such as Wing Commander, Freelancer and similar were source of great inspiration during creation of masterplan for Starpoint Gemini 3. All previous games in the franchise did good job in spreading the Universe and establishing chain of events. With sequel three, idea is to go deeper and breathe the souls and immersion in that Universe. I really think many players will like how it will present known setting in a new way...

"I just don't get why people would want to walk up and down corridors on a space station in all these space games..."

For the same reason people would want to not only fight in RPGs but to talk to NPCs and move around freely. Immersion. I've played elite dangerous for 300 hours and absolutely loved the game, but i couldnt stand not being able to get up and walk inside my frigate sized vessel.

In the way i see, not being able to move around inside your vehicle makes me feel like its an FPS in space. Instead of being a dude, im a ship, like an UAV simulator.
I like games like wing commander back in the 90s, you could walk around your carrier and talk to people.

We wanted to answer some of your questions here. There will be end-game content after the story is beaten, no worries! Since SPG3 will focus more on story and characters, players will not command large fleets, but they will get occasional support from allies. Trading will be a big aspect of the game and there will be various ways to make money. We can't tell you too much now, but expect to see more information in the upcoming gameplay video!

Regarding the sale on Warlords, it's the Texas Steam Sale so SPGW is also on sale. :)

Looking forward to this, some wonderful news to read out of the blue. Hoping there's some end-game content once the story is done and dusted? I read on the comments the comparison to freelancer, and that's something great to aspire to. It did everything right, pretty much. I know that you prob' don't have a freelancer-type budget, (never mind star citizen's :) but I've got faith. I hope you have good voice actors, customisation and bases to build / walk on even if it's freelancer style. With Rebel Galaxy coming out at some point and this... exciting times. Don't worry about Rebel Galaxy either, concentrate on your game and make us and yourselves proud!

I just don't get why people would want to walk up and down corridors on a space station in all these space games... It can't be any more fun than doing it in Mass Effect, which was actually fleshed out and highly detailed, as that was the core type of gameplay from that series. Whether it's Elite Dangerous or this, it just doesn't sound all that fun or interesting in comparison to exploring space... does it?

I'm not sure when this shift where players started expecting hybrid games that blend all genre together happened, but it's just begging to be disappointed - or begging to never have a game released (Star Citizen).

Putting too much on the plate makes a pretty poor game, personally I'd rather the devs focus on the core gameplay and perfect it, than try to add FPS-walking sim style features to the game. It's a guarantee it will never be good enough for the people asking for the feature... absolutely impossible when expectations are that over the top.
