For two years, three of us have been building a drowned world in the dark, and today we finally hand you the keys to it. The lighthouse is lit, the boat is at the dock, and the Abyssal Pool has never been hungrier.

You know the shape of it by now. Dive for what you need and drag it back up before the dark takes you. Keep your people fed, keep them sane, and decide who's worth saving when the numbers stop adding up. Forty days! One last chance to give the Rainmaker what he's asking for.

Not everyone wants a clock ticking down over their head. So if you'd rather explore the drowned world at your own pace, Endless mode strips away the Flood's countdown. No time limit, no game over, dive for as long as you like.

⚠️ Fair warning though: this isn't the way DIVE or DIE is meant to be played. It's a more relaxed option, and a marginal one at that. Some achievements are switched off while this mode is on, and the countdown still whispers at you through the UI and the dialogue, even with the timer gone.

Could my 4th idol be bugged? [spoilers]

I picked the 2nd and 3rd out of order, and now thr 4th is MIA I think. I found the blood cathedral with a sacrifice altar in it, but no idol. - Do I need to patch the carcass for it to show up? (any tips on that btw, I'm stumped) - Do I need to sacrifice on the altar? I feel blessed sharks won't be fun to deal with?...

We are only few days away from the full release of Dive or Die - Children of rain

Can you feel it too? The pull of the Rainmaker, calling for you from deep within the abyss.

The game has been in the works for over 2 years, and the idea for it had been lurking in the depths of our mind long before that. Now we can’t wait to share it with you next Tuesday.

We sincerely hope you will enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed building it! Before that though, here’s everything you need to know about release day.

Release Time

The game releases at 4PM CET. The map below shows how this translates to different time zones depending on where you are on the globe. Official release is July 21st , 4pm Paris Time (CET), 11am EDT & 8am PDT.

Pricing

Dive or Die - Children of Rain will come in one flavor only, no special edition, no pre-order bonus, no first day DLC: 100% pure ‘Standard Edition’ for everybody.

Regional pricing, however, has been taken into consideration, so please have a look at the following list as a quick overview:

Alright, i have played only a little and can say it right away - game is very similar to Don't Starve in a sense that you will absolutely do million mistakes during first run. There are limited amount of days (40 on easy difficulty), so if your diver dies - you lose 1 day and already get behind schedule. So far i seen only one way to increase count - to sacrifice some food and treasures in altar, after 4 days of sacrifices reward is +1 day to timer.

Now, this game is not giving you an easy time. Monsters can one-shot and able to corner character into dead ends and walls, there are no i-frames, so they attack over and over, making you panic and run into other monsters. Do not bless waters on first run, as it makes game unbearable for later dives to the point of abandoning save.

Resource management is straightforward and on easy side - there is no problem in getting enough food and treasures, especially if you main fishery early. So people mostlikely won't get sick or crazy. Having 8 population also not a big deal, just make sure to pick perk that reduces their daily consumption first.

It is fun but requires a lot of knowledge you possibly cannot have until finding it out by experimentation. You must know map with 100% clarity - where important things are, like maps, relics and rare loot. Checking NPC perks is a must, as it is possible to find overpowered things like free usage of turbo mode, which makes underwater traveling much easier, as well as helps avoiding creatures.

I played the demo and loved it, bought the game and still liking it. It resembles Dave the Diver a bit, but with a progression similar to darkest dungeon. It's also quite unforgiving like DD. There's a lot of random events, stats, and so on that can happen which makes it very roguelike.

The atmosphere and art is also very nice, relaxing, gloomy and somewhat melancholic. During the dive though it gets rather scary. If you meet some new threat and not sure if you should fight or flee, good chances are you better flee lol !

It That Crawls is infuriating

First time I ran into it, whoops. I screwed up. Second time, tried to get away, whoops, dead. Third time, okay I have to try get to get away much faster, still almost impossible. Unlocked the bestiary. Don't touch the Corals. Okay. Makes sense. Now I don't touch the corals, I do absolutely everything I can do to not touch the Corals in any way, and the thing still just pops out of nowhere and instagibs me with no recourse. Guns don't work. Respawning enemies?

I understand with each new dive things respawn, that makes sense obviously. But why do enemies respawn on the same run? I just started the demo and went through the cave near the surface to the right, took out the algae, and when I went back through that same cave all of the algae had respawned which almost got me killed. This is a huge negative IMO, I was nearly ready to buy the game until I encountered this mechanic. It makes me think the game leans more towards being cheap rather than being difficult....
