Time to forge your bonds, Pal-adins! Duo Quest 1.0 is now available with a 20% Launch Discount!

We started this project with the aim of making a game that lets people connect with one another while giving players things to talk about even after they switch off the screen. By learning about your co-op partner we hoped to create something that shows cool new ways of co-op gaming. As first time game devs, we’re super humbled by everyone’s support and can’t believe we’ve actually made it all the way to push that big green release button.

We hope everyone has a fun time playing this little game of ours and hope it makes all your relationships stronger (and that no relationships are ACTUALLY broken).

The team will continue to look for ways to update the game with any shortcomings we see, and we hope that we’ll be able to add more post-launch content in the future.

A couple of things about 1.0:

Unfortunately, your demo saves won’t carry over to the official release! We have a game progression system with card unlocks that we feel works best for the full release!
When launching Duo Quest on ANY DEVICE for the first time - please ensure you’re connected to Steam and the internet. Currently, there may be a case where your save files and achievements could be wiped if you start Duo Quest on a new device for the first time. Subsequent plays will not need an internet connection (should you want to play local).

1 or 2 Copies Needed?

Does anyone know if trying to play an Online game from 2 separate PCs need each person to have their own copy or is 1 copy enough? (Similar to ItTakes2)

ONLINE CO-OP IS FINALLY HERE!

Online Co-Op can be accessed directly from the main menu. To start playing together, just create a lobby from “Play Online” in the main menu and share the code to your Co-Op friend to join your game. Please note: the save profile being used to play online coop will be from the host, not the joiner.

Other than online co-op we have also updated the current demo with these features:

Chinese Localisation has officially been added!
UI/UX updates.
Some cutscene art has been updated to showcase what the full game will look like!

Some known bugs from this update (that we're working on fixing!)

Online Networking Issues

Client (joiner) side: Some stat numbers (damage, buffs) are desynced, meaning that the numbers might show up differently for Host and Joiner. In this event, the Host stat numbers are always the correct value.
At times, the monster intention does not show for the client (joiner).
Buff and debuff animations are not always in the right place, and may show up on the enemy.
During deckbuilding in Campfire, at times when you edit your deck to remove cards, the card might not show the correct card. However, your Co-Op partner will be able to see the correct card.

General

We don't support joystick on controller yet, please use the d-pad!

As we approach launch (in just 15 days), we’re super excited to see everyone’s support of Duo Quest. As usual, please join our discord to report any bugs/issues you encounter in the demo!

Rejoice, Pal-adins!

Today’s update features huge news - Duo Quest finally has Online Co-Op! No more wrestling around with third party apps, you can finally play Duo Quest with your friends from around the world.

Online Co-Op can be accessed directly from the main menu. To start playing together, just create a lobby from “Play Online” in the main menu and share the code to your Co-Op friend to join your game. Please note: the save profile being used to play online coop will be from the host, not the joiner.

Its a fun game that blends well roguelike elements, deck building, and coop. You take turns playing cards from your decks to beat enemies and then there are phases where you can combo cards or avoid damage by accurately guessing how the other will answer questions.

I love the rogue and his play style, and I would highly recommend this game to whoever has a friend they can have fun with.

It is built to be a two player game, but you can play on the same computer if only one person has a copy.

First wanna start off by saying, this game has a lot of charm. Only played so far as the Knight/Steel and with my friend playing as Wiz, but it was a lot of fun making silly combos and such.

PROS:
Funny and charming enemies, it was nice that they each had "themes".
Different builds, more cards unlocking as you kept progressing.
Mixed questions, it was not just the same over and over.
Art style is fun, it is simple but fun!

CONS:
The questions are sometimes...well very weird? Hard to even answer for yourself
The first many decks you build are forced into one archetype and it is very hard to make anything else work
The events are fun, but a lot of them are also very...silly? and not in a good way sadly.

Overall, is it a fun thing to play with a friend, partner etc etc? Absolutely. It is very fun to play as a first Deck-builder game with someone who hasn't done it. I can see more skill expression coming later in the game (hope so as well) but for the price? I say it is worth it. I will def play it again :)

Really nice and interesting twist to the roguelike deck builders genre! 100% recommended to play with your significant other to introduce them to this genre. THE FROAGIE IS THE BEST!
