PA is a great colony management game as is.
Some people like to micro manage down to the tiny details ...
others like to just assign that to an AI and get on with other things.

My advice is to take a page from the "Galactic Civilizations" series of games.
Make those Directors useful by having THEM be able to do the micro management.
A single Director per "build area" would be ideal ...

Secondly, if we are supposed to be in charge of a primary colony of some kind, we should have the ability to expand and build it into something impressive.
Give us the additional "other colonies and strategy posts"... but let us build the primary colony into and awe-inspiring megalopolis.

Great game and a great foundation to build from.

The new game idea is probably a smart move. PA is a good game and I've had it since something like the first week after it released in Early Access. It was a lot of fun back then, even as bare bones as it was, but as time went by it grew into this tedious monster with very limited appeal.

Some of you guys no doubt like it just like it is but the reality is that games like this aren't particularly profitable. Occasionally one will take off and do very well but most don't. When was it, early 2015, that this game released in EA? Still today it has barely more than 500 reviews and the player rating has dropped substantially which certainly isn't helping to sell more copies.

By all means, make a Project Aura: Light Edition that'll have wide appeal. Wide appeal = real profit and real profit = staying in business.

Scary but also exciting. A little disappointing as it must be way off and it probably means we won't see much more dev on Aura. (Unity port?)
I'm a little concerned about the loss of micro management and what that means.

Key for me was:
* Ultimately some element of city builder/architect if you will. What facilities/capacities you need.
* The idea that colonist survival was the goal. Also that unproductive colonists were a problem.
** Bit concerned about the loss of colonist health in this respect.
* Detailed stock production that ranged from collection of raw materials low level > processing > long production chains.
* The dystopian, isolated, barren, desperate feel. *This game had real and unique atmosphere.*

If nothing else I hope it stays sci-fi, and your are able to achieve something that feels unique again. I wish you the best of luck and success. I'm excited by the project and am certainly looking forward to news.

Yeah I may only have 91 hours in the game mostly during EA, but still most the changes you listed (not all, a couple of them like the director and colony expansion) just take away from what makes this game, this game, and what gives it a reason to play. If you where to make 3 single changes next patch you could go with the director change, colony expansion change, and making the UI not be to tiny to read when on a 4k moniter, allow the UI to be scaled up. (That's the main reason I have not played as much is because the UI and text is way to small to see on my main monitor and I hate having to play games on my other 2 moniters just because the game doesn't scale up the UI for larger resolutions. Large and pixilated is better then tiny and unreadable.

Had to make a post to reply what I was trying to say, but in short your upcoming changes address the wrong issues and instead of fixing anything just make the game just another idle clicker, the problem isn't the being able to micro manage if you so choose to, the problem is simply the time it takes to get enough resources to build a single building before you have to wait forever again. You're trying to fix a foot infection by amputating someone's arm, your going after the entire wrong thing.
