We’re excited to announce that Brave New Wonders is officially launching in 1.0 on Steam on September 21st.

In Brave New Wonders, you’ll build sprawling production lines, optimize every system, and command intelligent automatons that follow the commands you write in plain language. Part factory builder, part city builder rising from the ruins, it puts a civilization's revival in your hands. No conveyor belts and no coding: it’s just you and your army of automatons.

👨🏻‍💻 Steam Programming Fest Kicks off Today, and the Updated Demo is now LIVE

If you’ve been looking for a sign to try Brave New Wonders, this is it! The free demo has been given an update, with added polish and many improvements, making it easier than ever to jump in and start building before the full game launches on September 21st.

The demo isn’t just a tutorial-only build: it’s a complete slice of the game through the early game loop. You begin on the Americas, the most accessible biome in the Archipelago, with balanced resources and navigable terrain. You may also encounter ruins - some that are empty, and some that are guarded by old-world machines. If you find a relic within these ruins, you’ll be able to take it back to your train station and develop new technologies.

The demo also gives you an opportunity to try the unique text-based command system that we’ve built, where you can write commands in plain language, watch it generate in real-time, and modify the behaviour graphs as you see fit.

📌 Other Tips to get you Started

Start with preset commands. The library covers most early-game logistics needs and teaches you the vocabulary the command system uses before you start writing your own.
The behaviour editor shows you the generated behaviour graph before you confirm. Read it before you assign the command. It is the fastest way to check whether the automaton interpreted what you meant.
Signal coordination between buildings is where the system's real depth lives. It becomes available as soon as related tech trees are unlocked. Configure your production buildings to emit signals based on their status early in your run. Building automaton instructions around those signals can significantly increase factory efficiency.
The ruins on the starting continent scale in difficulty. Do not attempt the largest ruin without a defence system. Unlock combat capability early, and clear the smaller ruins first.

💾 Your Save Files Carry Over to the Full Release at Launch

Save files from the demo carry over seamlessly to the full version of the game when it's launched. Start your journey now and pick up right where you left off when the game launches on September 21st.

September is finally here, and it’s going to be a very exciting month for us. As an indie game studio in Canada, we’ve been hard at work since last year when we first announced Brave New Wonders - working to improve the game with new content, new and upgraded features, and quality-of-life upgrades.

We’ll have an updated version of the demo available for players starting September 10. The updated demo features a ton of bug fixes and quality-of-life updates, along with a frequently requested update to the tutorial for new pioneers who may be jumping in to play for the first time.

The demo will remain free to play, with two continents to explore, the text-based command system and behaviour editor, and more. Your save file from the demo will carry over to the full release at launch, so don’t wait to start building!

Playtest Update: Asia and Africa!

Hello, Pioneers!

A new Brave New Wonders playtest update is here! This update brings UI improvements, smarter automaton behaviour, new Africa content, and the first playable version of a brand-new continent: Asia!

🌋 New Continent: Asia

Active volcanoes. Continuous eruptions. Lava flows that destroy automatons in seconds.

Asia's industrial legacy has scattered scraps all over the continents. You can mine them and then use recyclers to break them down into high-tier products. Standard logistics routes get cut off by lava flows. You will need to design a responsive signal system to warn the automatons and let them know when to retreat to safety. On the other hand, unpredictable eruptions provide a huge amount of energy, and how to make good use of it is worth planning.

🌱 Africa Updates

Africa is the most agriculturally productive continent in the game: rich in fertile soil, warm climate and open terrain. It is the natural location for large industrial capacity based on alternative materials such as sand and water and crop production.

The challenge is spoilage: agricultural goods produced in Africa have a time-to-spoil half life. A greenhouse generating crops that no automaton collects in time produces nothing but waste. A warehouse that overflows with perishables must not be left unattended. Africa rewards tight logistics timing over raw throughput.

The greenhouse automation challenges in Africa involve some of the most interesting signal design in the game. Temperature signals, moisture signals can both emit distinct colors. Writing automaton commands that respond to multiple changing environmental signals simultaneously, while keeping delivery cycles tight enough to prevent spoilage, produces a logistics problem that feels genuinely different from anything on the other islands.

🤖 Behaviour Generator Improvements

The behaviour generator is now more responsive to signal changes, helping automatons react more reliably as your factory grows more complex.

Forced tutorial

Please don't. There is little things i hate more in gaming. It typically just makes me Alt+F4 and do something else, this game included. 99% of things aren't anything new. As for the things that might be new, i generally enjoy to figure it out by myself. If i can't, that's when i check if there's a tutorial. I'm sure many people have the same view....

When you say AI what do ya mean ?

Like in the sense that there is a literal model + weights behind the scenes reading the plain text and converting it into output - or do you mean just a highly dense key word language flow tree type deal ?

Reading signals is buggy

I tried automating the first delivery quest where you have to read the signal of a building to decide what to deliver. No matter what I do, even using the officially provided prompt in the hints, the first check on the signal works, the second check fails. (building emits 'red' twice, first time the true branch is taken, second time the false branch)...
