For the sake of my completionist brain, anyone have a hint as to where the *very final* bit is? It says I need to use all the abilities I've garnered but I dunno *where* I'd need to do that, haha. Also I'm incredibly hyped for the full release of this game. The demo has been my favorite thing I've touched in the last few months!...

RUBATO Demo Version 30 & 31 - Changelog

Yay! I updated the demo for the thirtieth time, just in time for SAGE 2025! This version of the demo is now a close representation of the final game. This will be similar to what Headcannon will put out on consoles in the near future.

Version 30 Changelog:

New art everywhere. New portraits, new main menu, new fonts, new lots of things. It's been a year since the last demo update, so a lot has changed!
A handful of new costumes, though there will be more once the game is finally released!
Significant optimisations - the game will run faster on all platforms thanks to the work put in to getting the game running on Switch 1.
Significant QoL since the last demo version - scrollable menu, extendable camera, you name it!
Significant bug fixes - apparently I forgot to make it so control bindings save. Nice one me.
Lots of other stuff I forgot about.

Version 31 Changelog:

Fixed a pesky bug regarding textbox layering issues…

The game is pretty much done now. Hopefully in a few months, a release date can be announced! See you very soon!

Control Scheme Change (Demo Version 24)

I've been pushing a lot of updates this week based on feedback I've got from in-person events. Watching people pick up the game for the first time was fun but I kept noticing something was off whilst observing gameplay from a far...

In response, I've changed the controls a little in regards to game's main mechanic.

By default, you now have to hold down on the lick button. The old style of licking is still available in the game's accessibility settings! But, I wanted to trial this as a little experiment and see how people react, both those who are completely new to the game and to those more experienced players (who are probably the ones reading this post!). The game is 75% complete, so adding this kind of feature this late into development is weird.

Why is it called Rubato?

I'm just curious, as it means "Stolen" in my language (italian). I don't think this game or its title have anything with the italian language, but still have caught my attention, so I would like to know why this name.

Thoughts?

Hey I just wanted to hear people's thoughts about the demo! It was REALLY fun in my opinion and might could use like a tiny tweak here and there but other than that it's really great! I love RUBATO's goofy expressions as well lol
