Backdraft Demo Version 0.7 - Balance & Bug Fixing

Oct 30

Adventure Difficulty
- Rebalanced opponent decks across all six fights, including their card mix, upgrade totals, and maximum card rarities.

Save Compatibility
- We recommend finishing your current run before updating.
- Unfinished runs from the previous version may fail to resume or resume with different cards or upgrades.
- Your collection, unlocks, achievements, and run history are preserved.

Hero & Card Changes
- Elric: After you gain Block, your next Attack deals +3 damage. Replaces upgrading a random Attack whenever your team gains Block. Multiple Block gains before attacking do not stack the bonus.
- Barrier: Reduces the next hit by 67%, down from 75%, and expires at the start of your next turn.
- Sera: Rally now gives your Hero Barrier instead of giving it to another random ally.
- Encase: Now a Defend instead of Spell. Give a friendly Minion 6/7/8/9/10 Block, then Command it. Replaces its Barrier and combat Max HP effects.
- Beacon: Gain Barrier and heal all friendly Minions for 3/4/5/6/7 HP. Replaces giving Minions Barrier and gaining combat Max HP.
- Strike: Damage increased from 6/7/8/9/10 to 6/8/10/12/14.
- Guard: Block increased from 6/7/8/9/10 to 6/8/10/12/14.
- Basic Enchanting Cards: Damage increased from 10/12/14/16/18 to 10/13/16/19/22.
- Steam Launcher: Now Upgrades itself whenever you Exhaust a card, replacing Sharpen.
- Tribute: Now Upgrades itself whenever a Minion dies, replacing Sharpen.
- Fruit Tree: Cost reduced from 2 to 1 Energy. Always generates 2 Fruits at its own rarity. Grow now Upgrades Fruit Tree instead of increasing the number of Fruits generated.
- Fruit Tree's generated Fruits support levels beyond Legendary. Apple's Block, Honeydew's healing, and Mango's combat Max HP now continue scaling at those levels.
- Apple: Block reduced from 5/6/7/8/9 to 4/5/6/7/8. Still draws a card.
- Banana: Barrage damage reduced from 10/11/12/13/14 to 8/9/10/11/12.
- Coconut: Damage reduced from 8/9/10/11/12 to 6/7/8/9/10.
- Honeydew: Still grants 1 Energy. Healing reduced from 1/2/3/4/5 to 0/1/2/3/4 HP, with healing beginning at Uncommon.

Artifact Changes
- Silver Buckler: Whenever a friendly Minion gains Block from your team, Upgrade a random Attack in your hand. Replaces giving a random friendly Minion Barrier at the end of your turn.
- Warden's Mantle: At the start of your turn, gain 2 Block for each Attack in your hand. Replaces gaining 2 Block whenever you play an Attack.
- Twin Stones: Playing an Attack now Upgrades a random card in your deck with the same name instead of Sharpening it.
- Weaver's Pouch: Now Upgrades duplicate cards in your hand at the start of your turn, including eligible Defends, Spells, and Minions.
- Eye of the Watcher: Fixed its Strengthen effect triggering when an enemy gives your Minion Block. It now requires Block from your own team.

Visual & UI
- The Monster Lair now previews the HP, damage, and ability improvements from an upgrade before you spend Feed. Simplified the upgrade podium layout.
- Simplified rarity labels in card descriptions. Upgrade comparisons now highlight the resulting rarity with a green upward arrow.

Bug Fixes
- Combat log tooltips now preserve the card's rarity, enchantments, and generated card preview as they were when it was played, even if the original card later changes.
- Fixed combat ending during a card drag leaving input stuck and suppressing interface previews. Improved targeting cleanup between combats.
- Fixed enchantment effect cleanup when closing the Adventure inventory. Compact deck rows outside combat no longer show combat enchantment glows.
- Reduced oversized shadows on flying Minions.
- Fixed the circular element highlights in the Collection.
- Taurok's hero power icon now stays lit after its bonus has been used.
- Fixed card visual effects rendering behind cards.
- Ardent Salts and Legion's Fist no longer appear in mid combat artifact drafts.
- The Blacksmith now prioritizes different cards over duplicate choices while keeping basic cards eligible for upgrades.

Backdraft

Is this game coming out in full version or early access?

I wanted to understand if it's going to have all the characters that were locked in the demo on November 3rd, when it comes out.

Adventure Mode
- Each Adventure run is now a trip across a longer map route that ends at a treasure chest.
- It opens on a new portal screen with elemental portals, crack effects, and opponent previews.

- Each hero remembers the Heat Level you last picked.
- We're looking for feedback on these, so please let us know in the forums or discord what you think!

Lol holy $*** at how hard the ai is

Fired up the game, and in first round the ai somehow one shotted both my creatures, blew a quarter of my life away and threw up a huge shield. I uninstalled the game.

What can we expect from the full version?

Hey devs, I'm really enjoying the demo. I think you've hit a pretty sweet spot regarding most things. Well done. (I'm sure a lot of balance adjustments must be made as winrates stabilise). I can't get 1v1s going in the demo, presumably because too few people are spread out among too many channels. Curious to see how that goes upon release. Will there be ELO ratings for matchmaking? I'm generally curious what we can expect from the full version. Eg., how many new cards? I'm curious how broad and deep the...

5.0 issues

the 5.0 demo has some hilarious bugs. The armour artifact that says freshly summoned minions get 4 block for a turn is just on every turn. The one green mage in the adventure gets +1 energy every odd turn. so he just snow balls to 10+ energy every turn which is insanity. It might be intended but feels super unfun to play against. I feel like this game isn't ready for prime time....
