Sounds like the troubles I was having before I had to swap out my memory sticks. It was wildly inconsistent crashing, but when I actually caught a "blue screen" in the act I read it quick enough to see something about memory error. I took a gamble, swapped out my memory, and haven't had a crash in over 8 months now since doing that.

Could also be a heat thing, if Rimworld is setting your CPU up to a high temp that could be crashing it as well. The good thing there is, something like that is usually just an inspection/cleaning of your CPU cooler.

My guess would be lean to the memory though.

Suppose one last thing could be a bad sector (or whatever term they use for SSD/NVME drives) on your storage drive. That also seems less likely unless you are very low on open space.

Runs great for me on a 5090 +9800X3d at 4k maxxxed. I did have a couple of instances of bizarrely long stutters near the start of the game (like it paused entirely for 10-15 seconds and I was sure it had crashed), but I haven't had regular traversal stutters.

Your post tells me you may not know much about PC building. You talk about having "best in slot," parts, but stutters on a good overall PC are more likely to be related to storage and RAM, which you don't discuss at all. I see on your profile that the SSDs are kind of junky and small. Yes there's a little t700 in there, but the t705 is way faster and you don't mention whether the game is even installed on your fastest drive. So that would be one thing to check.

Another thing I'd look at is that I saw that lanes were a huge issue on X870e (which is very similar to your X670e) when I was doing my build. You need to look at a motherboard diagram and see what things are using what lanes. With 3 M2 drives populated, it's possible that one can cause the GPU pcie slot bandwidth to cut in half depending on the motherboard and which slots are used. Or USB/peripherals/etc can also share slots with the M2 drives and could be throttling your storage, depending how it's plugged in.

Gamers these days just want to blame everything on "optimization," but a lot of times the problem is a hardware issue that comes down to user error/lack of knowledge. You can't just throw a bunch of expensive parts together without knowing how everything works. Many games will be fine that way, but as soon as you hit one that stresses a particular part of the system, your PC will be exposed. I saw a lot of that with the crying about FF Rebirth "optimization." Kids could not understand that RAM and storage played a huge role in how the game ran and legitimately believed that the game had uncorrectable performance issues because all they ever knew how to do was upgrade their GPU and CPU every few years.

Not a big fan usually, but if you're the type to get all the old achievements I guarantee you would buy the DLC anyways.
