Is it possible the opponent was land screwed? Kept a risky hand and didn't draw anything he was hoping for? Was forced away by a real life incident? Really had to poo? I can see many reasons to walk away from a game once in a while. Don't make things about you just because you witness them.
With that said, there are a lot of whinny babies that don't want you to play cards, so you could just be right, and I am giving too much credit to snowflakes melting in a sun.

I'm just saying that I refuse to play against decks that rely on cheese strats like discard and counter spells so i totally get it and if it wasn't in response to me laying my 2nd land and them already having two lands in play I wouldn't have even considered that possibility

I get that sometimes when B or U seems to be the only type of deck I am facing just seeing a swamp or island, or especially a dual of those 2 colors again makes me want to rage quit.

Vanguards is neat but you're going up and up with vertical content that most people won't even see.

Find a way to bring in horizontal gameplay loops.

One idea I had is to come up with a way to do instanced areas for smaller ships. Like, having new unique "warp curve" signal that acts as a "door way" to "pirate hideouts". So you have to find the warp curve, scan it and use it which requires smaller ships to access.

The logic would be that the curve slingshots you to a nebula or something that can only be reached by the warp spot. Kinda like a "crypto warp" with its own pre-calculated detestation that can only be accessed from that warp (I donno, you make up whatever logic you want)

Then in these instanced "bubbles" you can product solo or group gameplay content that is a bit more like the classic flight sims. Maybe you go from one bubble to another bubble and take out enemies or whatever. Maybe mine a bit.

You could do a lot of with this idea. Even blend in on-foot spots. Basically being able to turn Elite into a "4 player co-op" game on the side.

I think cr. Mk to driverush is definitely one of the game's weaknesses.

You can play around it and for most characters subsequent combos scale really hard so its not a huge issue. But the risk/reward still feels a bit lopsided.

1 Entwined Protector gets focused down in 1 turn. So it does jack all. 1 Hostile Wildgrowth does jack all for damage. 1 set of Liviing Vines can stall like 3 units for a turn.

If you see value in 1 Entwined Protector then alright, go nuts. Personally I think 1 does jack all.

what im reading here is that multiple units of the enemy are busy killing 1 expendable unit, allowing the rest of my army to deal dmg without getting hurt.

1 expendable unit tying up multiple enemy units sounds good to me.

Why, like an actual question, what do you need runes for. There are plenty of enemies to farm.
