The points shop is a cool concept. Unfortunately, you cannot get items from games you do not own, generally, and going to the "from your games" tab means you become unable to search for specific emojis/etc to find what you want, and you also are not able to filter or search by your owned games. (nor r-click in library to go to a game's point shop).

Improvement in these areas would be great. I have a lot of steam points that I have yet to use simply because it's too much effort to go find something I'm interested in that I *can* get.

If a game in your library has Points Shop items, it'll tell you. Right under the "Install" button or "Play" button, you'll see

Store page, DLC, Community Hub, "Points Shop" <--- if it has items, you'll see this.

And you can search by your owned games. What you mean you are not able to?

I own the game "Blair Witch" if I want to find items specific to that game (lets say a background) I will just click on "Backgrounds" and in the search box, I input "Blair Witch" and Voila, you see the game's backgrounds.

What were you looking for and for what game? maybe the game doesn't offer whatever item you were hoping it had?

You can also buy said items from the Market if you can't get the items from the Points Shop for whatever game you don't own.

I mean, we need to put 2 hours in a game before being able to get certain Points Shop items for the games we do own (not every game but the ones I have checked recently) emotes etc

It's like, don't own the game? can't get that item (if the Dev has it set up like that) or didn't put 2 hours into the game? can't get this avatar or whatever.... why? do they think we'd refund a game and keep the items if that 2 hour limit wasn't there?

you're mostly right with your obervations and the points where I disagree are not purely black and white, but I'll reply to those:

- In the "Lake of the Dead" map, one of the hints is "you need to die". So I walk upstairs, run into a fireball and die. This results in the map being reset. Turns out that the only way to correctly die is the spike trap in the top left corner. Makes zero sense.

=> after drinking the potion, you're a skeleton. and you learned earlier in the game that skeletons revive when hit - unless they're killed with fire.

- Then eventually, it requires you to do so without announcing that it's possible. Next map, the exit back up is blocked again. Maddening.

=> In the first 10? levles you learn that you can't go back. Then you chase the fool around and most people do so for a while before they try to chase him to the left and thus to the entrance. i actually saw 1 or 2 people resetting the game at that point but 95% are willing to take the additional steps to try and follow him - and they are usually delighted that the game broke its own rule. of course i could always allow it but that would be pretty annoying right? so as the text box states, the protagonist refuses to go back in general - unless she thinks it makes sense. thus the watcher note. not perfect, i agree.

- Nope, after three rounds of this, the drow opens the portcullis himself for whatever reason. How is this communicated?

=> the drow tries to kill you with the teleport arrow but as he sees that you dodge it, he gets impatient and opens the door to kill you. the game often tries to give these little sprites more 'character' than you'd expect. and when designing puzzles in an environment that restricts your actions so much, i think it's a valid assumption that the players keep exploring any "solution path" that doesn't lead to failure right away. but i see your point.

By the way my PhD is in computer science and my official title is professor for game design because I'm attached to the chair of game design where I teach (now taught) computer science. that and the fact that i made this game in my leisure time might explain that players have to be willing to overlook some of the undeniable shortcomings to appreciate the short session minimalist story puzzle dungeon crawler experience i wanted to provide.
