I think theres info on how the aimed shot increases accuracy in the help page but not 100%. The chain fire is the only one I think has a clear use case where it's better or worse.

Chainfire in its first volley shoots 2/3 the shots of the normal burst (which gets rounded to the nearest integer), then the second volley shoots the normal amount of shots, and then each subsequent volley shoots 3/2 the shots of the normal burst until chainfiring ends (at which point it'll have to start over again). It would take a threat requiring more than three normal bursts to "profit" off of Chainfiring (and that's assuming a fourth normal burst wouldn't have done the job), which will almost never happen aside from against bosses, and when Chainfiring you're forced to stand still for several consecutive turns while unable to do anything else, which is generally not optimal. As such, Chainfiring is impractical most of the time unless you're running Entrenchment, which gets massive defensive bonuses and reduced ammo consumption while chainfiring. In fact, if you're not running Entrenchment, most practical uses of Chainfiring will be using only the warming up burst to save ammo when the reduced shots would be enough to finish off an enemy.

This DRL wiki page[drl.chaosforge.org] has information about alt-fires. There may be new ones in JHC that aren't covered on there and it's missing a couple unique alt-fires from DRL itself, but it covers the basic ones you'll see on standard weapons. Also note you can do Shift+T when you want to target something with an alt-fire; this is especially important for rocket jumping, where you typically won't be using it on an enemy.
