Ah thats because Riot operates in Europe and must comply with GDPR. This means any data collection—especially via anti-cheat—is expected to be:

• Transparent: Clearly described in their Privacy Notice.
  
  
• Legitimate: Only for purposes like ensuring fair play or security.
  
  
• Minimal: Collecting only what’s strictly necessary.
  
  If anti-cheats scan system files or memory without clear justification, that can raise red flags under GDPR.
  
  Funnily, Riot had updated their Privacy Notice in March this year to update their terms but doesn't explicitly state that the software scans personal data outside of game-relevant telemetry and is still critiqued on their lack of GDPR transparency requirements.
  
  Also funny story:-
  one company (Reto Moto) was allowed under GDPR to withhold anti-cheat data from a player’s data access request, due to business confidentiality obligations.

Dark Souls 2, yes. Enemies placed in cheese spots, the inability to aggro out single targets, and the fact you can be hit while in backstab and riposte animations.

Other than that, they're pretty much some of the best examples of difficulty done right. Every death is your own fault, either through impatience or inattention.
