My game launches fine and the opening cutscene plays without any issues, but I can’t get into the main game screen. As soon as the intro cutscene ends, it automatically goes back to the Steam page. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

True, this game has been sunset and the devs have made a remastered version. However it has received an update recently because the publisher (purportedly behind the devs' back, whether this is true or not we don't know) released an additional 'anniversary DLC' in the form of the Aquatica map. Sadly, that DLC and the base game update which went along with it was done by a separate studio who had little experience in Ark code, and as a result the game is now very broken in numerous ways.

To answer some of your questions though:

*) The cutscene when you first load in to the map is not new, it was added to the game shortly before it was sunset 2 years ago. There is one at the beginning and end of each map, to give some context and introduce/advance the plot. However they only show when you start a new character on the map, so if you played an old character from before they were added you may not have seen them.

*) The map order has not changed, The Island is still the starting map. Then the game's lore goes to Scorched Earth, Aberration, Extinction, then finally the Genesis episodes. You can play them in any order you wish if you don't care about the story though.

*) With regard to the server not showing up - what version is your server and your client running? If one has updated but the other has not, then the server will not appear in the client's server browser. This applies to mods as well, if the mod list is different or mods have different versions installed client to server, that will prevent it from appearing too.

However it shouldn't stop it from appearing in Steam's own server listings, that is a bit odd. Is it open to the internet, or only on a LAN network? And if it is open to the net, can you find it on Battlemetrics.com or is it invisible on that as well? The latest update did cause problems with the game reading config files and implementing their changes, so if you have a special IP set up in the server's configs that may not be being implemented any more, which could explain the issue...

*) At the moment, the most stable way to play the game is to use Steam's beta feature. The new devs added a PreAquatica beta branch, which reverts the game install to the version before the Aquatica update was added. This version runs as smoothly as it did before, and supports mods, most of which were broken by the update. Not sure whether that would assist in this case though.
