More mucho text lol

Here's some more wall of text for you, if you're interested.

Those skins don't even look good lol. Like how do you think a cel shaded cartoon skin looks good in a gritty military shooter? What possesses someone to spend upwards of $20-$30 on that?

I'll admit to owning the last few CoD games. It's still fun to boot up and do a few quick matches here and there. But this last year, with Black Ops 6, I didn't even pass 10 hours on the thing, I don't think. Certainly not $70 worth of content. They'd have to make major changes and really convince me, if they want me to buy BO7. I know they wont either. I'll just get Battlefield 6 instead when it comes out, and keep playing stuff like Rising Storm 2 until '83 comes out. There's no shortage of awesome shooters that release. Like The Finals last year, I actually don't get how that isn't more popular. Even tho I'm just not a fan of the free-to-play model, in general. I'd have much rather spent $40 on The Finals and had no Battle Pass garbage injected into it.

Point being, if these people are buying CoD, it's not for lack of options. It's just that they want what they want and don't care if they're buying more ads than games. I loaded up BO6 earlier today, and I had to close out of t3 ads, just to be sent to the menu trying to get me to buy the Blackcell junk, then had to go navigate to the Multiplayer section. It's actually insane. I feel like this is straight from the corporate dystopia that Cyberpunk 2077 is warning us about haha.

There's a few good AAA games coming out that I have faith in. The new Silent Hill, anything by Kojima, anything by FromSoft. But yeah, I've been saying the same thing about AAA gaming for the last 5 or so years. It's 90% just a billion dollar company trying to find an excuse to rip the money out of your account. I don't get how we got here.

I like that gaming is more mainstream now, and I like that I can relate with more people about my favorite hobby. I've been gaming since I was a kid, and in the early 2000s it was honestly hard to find people who were into the same games as me. But the popularity is bringing terrible practices with it. I'd like a happy medium, where people can enjoy games without getting fleeced.

Indie games are where it's been at for me. So many of them come out everyday, and tons of them exceed anything AAA devs tend to put out. Inscryption, MiSide, Signalis, absolute masterpieces at a fraction of the price. We got it both better and worse these days honestly, so I try to look on the bright side. For every AAA game that looks gorgeous but barely runs and has the depth of a puddle, there's far more indie games that just want to be fun.

Idk man, I'm rambling at this point. Just passionate about this stuff, been gaming my whole life, not gonna stop. It's an interesting topic to me.
