The lodbias no longer seems to help with lights/lanterns/torches/candles etc in 2.0. Mostly it seems to help a bit with treelines, maybe seeing rocks or vehicles in the road, buildings.

It did work (with lanterns) in A21 (I did a lot of testing with it back then) and to a lesser degree, early 1.0.

the lodbias used to help with general draw distance of other objects and lighting a lot more in the even further past as well, but whatever they're doing in the backbone (code/"hardcoded") has made it less and less effective.

Also, IIRC, using lodbias, whatever effect it does still have, may vanish if you alter any other setting after and you'd have to re input it.

No one can be 100% sure what will work or not, all the time, because versions/game changes. It's not a finished game where something that works will always continue to reliably work, or work in the same way, forever. So yeah, searching will often give results that are outdated or inaccurate etc. there was a time when you could make changes in the registry entries and they would stick - most do not anymore, even if you change them. the registry parameters just flip right back again when you load the game.

At this point I'd hazzard a wild guess (I know you dont like guesses, but sorry that's all I have) that altering draw distance would require backend code alternations, or whatever the descriptive terms would be.

Make sure to repair the files, you can right click the game and go into the menu to do this. Unfortunately when the game crashes it sometimes takes out the settings file with it, causing the game to revert back to defaults. After getting your settings redone I recommend backing up the setting file in case this ever happens again. You can search for my name and "Powershell backup script" in this forum if you want to automate your backups.

I have experienced the same issue in the past, which is why I keep that setting file backed up, to save me time having to redo all those settings each time.

the main game will cost 4.99 like FNAF 1, but with the release discount it will probably be less. The good thing is that it will have a demo first, since it will be a complete game (no chapters)
