I'm not saying that crypto can't or shouldn't be an option, but we should also consider non-crypto alternatives as well.

I was never outright against your suggestion of additional options, redundancy is always a net positive. If Bitcash or TALER could be added alongside, I’d welcome it. However pretending that’s the optimal move here with the greatest upside is just incorrect, and as you’ve stated, isn’t even ready for that kind of adoption.

Where the disagreement started is when you jumped in earlier with dismissals like calling BTC, ETH, and SOL “memecoins” and treating this idea as if it had no merit. That kind of interjection isn’t accurate and doesn’t engage with the actual point being made: that a censorship-resistant lane reduces Visa/MC’s leverage at essentially no downside to Valve.

If you want to broaden the discussion with other potential solutions, great! I have no objection to that. But framing it as if anything outside your own picks is unserious is what derailed the exchange. The core argument here is about the min-max strategy for Steam: least work, most upside, and protection from a single point of failure. Crypto rails do that, and other alternatives may as well. Both can be true.
