The save you currently have will be deleted, so you have to start anew.

We will update the demo at some point and are looking into ways, so that you can take your save game from that demo to the full game.

This. At some point normal missions get boring. Getting into SP can be really challenging at first but eventually you will get to a point where it becomes your new "norm" and with more knowledge of how to build your arsenal you will be able to basically use any frame/weapons you want (that's part of the fun for me, trying to make any weapon and frame viable for SP)
