I've just started playing so take what I say with a pinch of salt...

You need aimed shot to reliably hit stuff early on but I imagine with enough level ups you'll be able to wean yourself off it. I've found bear traps and nets help quite a bit with getting rushed. Try and use the environment to your advantage, standing behind cover against other ranged units and using choke points to defend against multiple melee guys. Perception skillups give you more accuracy and ive found other gear that gives bonuses to accuracy too. Also, I would advise you grab distracting shot, its saved my bacon a few times now.

I don't completely agree with this. The more experienced players might be able to convince me I'm wrong, but currently I think these are the exceptions:

First, Magic Trick (and Illusion). I am not going to take Magic Trick unless I have a Hologram and need to level it up. Outside of that it just pollutes the shop reducing the chances of finding a Joker or Tarot card you need.

Second, Tarot Tycoon. Tarot Merchant is fine, you generally want Tarots. However, Tarot Tycoon is a step too far and introduces the same problem as Magic Trick, reducing your chances to find Jokers by too much.

Third, Seed Money and Money Tree -- not straight up bad, but if your economy is such that you feel it is unlikely you will reach those levels.... you are probably better off saving your $10 for something else.

Fourth, Hieroglyph and Petroglyph -- again, not straight up bad. But you probably should not buy them unless you think without them you will lose, that you need more time to increase your scoring.

At least I'm not the only one. In a game I just started, I saw that there were "Metal" and "Rock" traits, but I got negative results for both...

I tried creating characters until I had one of the two, but no luck, haha.

You shouldn't be standing there checking passives if you have open slots. Grab everything and look at it as you move to the next location, drop what is good for others and ping it.

For what?
E.g. if you are genre AND dow veteran like me, there is literally 0 reasons to play old campaings. I dont need any motivation, because its just freaking boring.
I know approx 29213 way to cheese vanilla AI. No achievements will make it ever fun.
Mods? Yes. Multiplayer? yes.
But campaigns I played million times in the past? Meh.
