So I played seven to eight matches (ranked and Draft) yesterday, on my way not to the final crate but the second to last Special one. Those were not lightning aggro rounds. Guess how much progress I made? Exactly zero. I compared screenshots, and my progress bar was the same down to the pixel!
This doesn't happen all the time but has happened to me before. I wouldn't be surprised if one of the reasons for their evasiveness is some obscure bug that defies any official formula.

I do agree on your understanding of souls-like games, but what warranted a post about it? Did you play a game that carried the title of souls-like, but didn't behave as one or...? And regarding the title only, souls games are generally considered as punishing, which is a genre originally created by the release of Demon Souls and then continued by the DS trilogy afterwards.

What prompted the post was someone creating another post on another game asking how hard it was, saying they were interested in the game but worried that, because it's tagged "souls-like" it would be too difficult. It's a shame, in my opinion, that souls-likes are considered punishing instead of about "overcoming difficulty" as another commenter pointed out, which is how Miyazaki described it. I wouldn't consider any FromSoft games to be particularly punishing and it sucks that the "souls-like" tag intimidates people away from trying new games.

Well I mean it is how Dark souls 1 was marketed since it received a positive reception. Do you know what was the marketing slogan for PC Dark Souls Edition? 'Prepare to Die'. Yep, ever since then it is what it is, the whole genre having establishing itself more than a decade ago, has always been marketed as such and grew to this day where people expect any game label souls like to be as such. So there isn't any reason to "hate" on how people new or unfamiliar with souls like games to perceive it as such.

Still, have you talk to enough new players that tried souls like games? Yeah, that is exactly their experience with it. There are even a loud and obnoxious crowd that is requesting for an easy mode. Khazan gave it to them, guess what? They asked for an easier mode on top of the existing easy mode. Despite knowing it is a souls like and what it offers Hilarious isn't it? Reality is indeed warped, no question it.

Nice patch. Thanks for your continued work on this game. I like playing it both on my PC and Steam Deck. When I travel, this is a default game I make-sure is loaded on my Steam Deck for the trip, and for the hotel room where I hook the Deck to a TV and play Bluetooth with PS4 controllers.
