Idk why y'all make ♥♥♥♥ so hard with this "no it must be MY WAY" type ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. The game absolutely needs checkpoints; however, they should be at the shrines. No saving in the middle of a climb, only at a summit. There's also no reason to keep this feature exclusive to tenderfoot. There's no NEED to use the feature if you don't want to. Continue your climb as you would. This affects absolutely nobody, considering no edge is given. All it would be is the ability to take a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ break, and if you see that as an edge, then you need to touch grass. Hell, you can even add achievements for reaching summits without using shrines simply to satisfy the need for a challenge. Like its not that complex but yall overcomplicate it with your egos.
Except the maps change literally every single day. There is no point in a save/checkpoint option that expires daily with the map change and honestly just opens the door to a million possible bugs and issues. Who gets the save? The host? Everyone in the lobby? How is it erased overwritten each day? How will climbing times and fog raising be managed (without breaking things) if people are in and out at every single campfire? How will swapping players mid save file be managed with the loot they are carrying? It's just not that simple to start with.

I agree completely with Phys - this should be a personal setting or tenderfoot difficulty ONLY. I absolutely do not want to be locked into checkpoints when I like the challenge of completing the climb as is. I don't want to have to redo the same freakin' run with the same loot because of a forced checkpoint. If I fail? I want to start from scratch and cross my fingers for some better luggage and food RNG. A big part of the challenge of the game is having to go from point A to B in a set time frame.

There is NOTHING overcomplicated about making our own request that it not be a forced-to-everyone change. Talking crap about egos and all that is just absurd. Your hypocrisy when saying we are saying "it must be MY way" while you are tossing insults because we'd prefer it to be an option and that it HAS to be your way instead is funny.

The longest run I've personally had was 2 hours and 40 ish minutes and that's cause me and my friends were running around doing completely goofy crap just cause we could. Every single peak completion I have has been under the 1 hour 45 minute mark outside of that - solo and multiplayer. I'm all for settings and giving options for players, but that's just it... they should be settings and options. That way EVERYONE can play the way they'd prefer.


yet again making it way ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ harder than it needs to be. did you not read "at the shrines" or are you just stupid? new maps mean nothing, they still have shrines. nothing changes. when maps refresh so do checkpoints. obviously just the host, unless the devs feel benevolent. breaking things by reverting a save? dude have you never played a physical game with no online capability? swapping players means nothing if its per instance and per host. just like every other game that saves to the host? either way youre not a programmer so stop bringing up dev problems(which have been solved 10x over in numerous engines) when they arent applicable on steam forums. again, just with any other save feature in pretty much any other game, you can DELETE YOUR CHECKPOINT IF YOU SO CHOOSE. please stfu if you just want to cry. the point isnt being able to just say " i got to the peak hur durr!!" without doing the work(news flash: you still need to CLIMB THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥ MOUNTAIN 4 TIMES. its not EASIER in any way.) its that not everyone can sit and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ climb 4 mountains in a single sitting. youre literally on a tangent about how it NEEDS to be your way when the problems you bring forward arent problems in the slightest. its climbing a mountain. theres nothing challenging about it. it just takes time not everyone has. your dumbass 1-3 hour time span is WAY too long for some people in a single setting, but not a bad use of time throughout the entire day. yall just wanna gatekeep something that doesnt take skill simply to do so. no reason to lock someone out of part of the game simply because they have a wife and ♥♥♥♥♥♥ kids but still wanna game, yall are pathetic. like idk why yall are complaining about an overall addition to functionality that is almost ubiquitous in any game where you can save at all. yall are acting like saving specifically at an already predetermined break point is installing an elevator that takes you right to the top...
