I had no idea that there were events to allow comebacks (granted, I tend to play very conservatively so I usually only lose a couple of events per run towards the start which are generally pretty benign). I talked about AtS because I feel that roguelikes shine when you know exactly how f$*cked you are at any given time, and to me, Death strikes are a step in the right direction : Even if they made the game easier, you're still closer to defeat than if you didn't have it at all - all I ask for is for comebacks to be possible, not guaranteed. As in, you get help to pick up the slack, but you still have to do it, otherwise you'll lose. I guess we'll see how the updates shake things up.

About adjacency bonuses, I think that part of my aversion to the mechanic is the whole concept of +output bonuses without +input changes (You may have guessed already but I'm actually a BIG math and design nerd so I'd be happy to discuss my thoughts about this is particular if you want - I'm no stranger to walls of text), but part of it is mostly because I think they factor too much in the efficiency of most buildings. I've actually thought of many different ways to potentially change how it works, but I have no idea which ones would be closest to your intent - let me know if you're interested !
